Amazing hotel, really close to Times Square, but yet a quiet hotel. Lovely design. We loved everything about the room. The hotel serves breakfast, simple, but the majority of NY hotels don't offer one. This was my third trip to NY, I always change hotels, but next time I'll stay here again. We travelled as a family, with a 2 yo baby and this location was a must for us.

Room Tip: Try to get one with a street view.

Great location, comfortable but shame about paper plates for breakfast meals. Great location to see many of New York's tourist sites. Great bed and shower. Staff are exremely friendly and the roof top bar is a great way to unwind after a long day of walking! Just don't understand why they would serve breakfast on paper plates...??

The central location of this hotel made it ideal for this short trip with my Mom who has some physical limitations. Hence, the taxi rides from the hotel to all the major tourist sites were affordable and of short duration.
The service provided by the hotel staff was good to excellent and we were happy about the daily breakfast buffet (included with room rate). Actually, 95% of the staff was very polite and helpful. The decoration of the hotel is very tasteful -- modern with an Asian flair. It has been recently renovated and everything looks new and up-to-date.
The only negative about our experience at the Sanctuary is the size, lighting, and thin walls of the room. This was my 4th trip to Manhattan, so no palatial hotel room was expected, but this was definitely the smallest hotel room I've ever stayed in (smaller than any European and/or American hotel room). The window looked out to a wall of the next building, giving the room a bit of a gloom and one could easily hear any guest passing by the room in the hallways.
I would probably not come back to the Sanctuary, since I've stayed in equally well located hotels, that offer more spacious rooms.

we spent 4 nights at the sanctuary in July and found this hotel amazing. Although it is right in the middle of one of the busiest place on earth (just 3 mn walk from time square), when you get back into your hotel you find it quiet and relaxing. The staff is really, genuinely nice (not just commercially nice) is this is becoming so rare. Rooms are comfortable and even if not spacious, they are perfectly well equipped. We had one issue in one of our rooms and everything was made immediately to get us in another room, without any burden and very nicely.
On the downside, the hotel is not particularly children friendly. Everything is thought for being zen and trendy for adult standards (rather dark, strong ambiance perfume, music). While this is great for adults, this is not optimal for kids. There is no place where they can have a break except their rooms and not a lot of kids friendly selections on the breakfast (ok ..complementary)
There is a nice, trendy rooftop bar which brings a lot of activity in the hotel every evening but where, again, you are not really expected to show up with your kids although you can do it outside rush hours.
Net net, we had a very nice stay and I would definitely recommend this hotel for couples without kids. And again, bravo to the staff.!!
