The Shelburn Hotel on Lexington Avenue is not far from Grand Central Terminal . It's approximately 6 to 7 city blocks away and if you have no children with you and a rolling luggage bag or back pack I would suggest walking it in nicer weather ; if you just got off the train at GCT. and would like to stretch your legs a bit , it's not a LONG walk. This hotel is lovely and has larger rooms than most New York hotels. Try to book a room on the Lexington Avenue St. side for a better view. It's very quiet and comfortable and in a great convenient area. They have a rooftop bar called Rare , that should NOT be missed on a clear night. It has a beautiful view of the Chrysler building and the Empire State building. It's just so pretty in good weather to see the lights of the city from there ! DON'T miss it. My husband and I paid for a suite on our 25th anniversary and it was worth every penny. It is updated even though it is in an older hotel , run by Affinia. Staff were helpful the 2nd time we went and reserved a suite. The suite has a kitchenette , one bath , one good size queen or king bed ( sorry can't remember which size we reserved ) so comfortable with clean crisp inviting sheets , after a warm shower at the end of a busy day. A living room with a pullout couch ( and you can order a cot ) kitchen table , steps a way from a beautiful balcony ! So if you want to share the price with maybe 5 people it's will lessen your expense. The cot is extra. I would suggest an adults only , or family of no more than 2 children. It is much more difficult to get around towing young children along. 14 and over , yes. Downstairs you will find the restaurant that is attached to the hotel. We did not visit as we had other restaurants that were recommended or that we stopped at in Little Italy , that unfortunately seems to be slowly getting even smaller. This is a very enjoyable hotel to stay in. Have a great time , in the greatest city in the world. Bonnie

Room Tip: Higher floors are quieter.

Average hotel but in a good location. Our biggest issue was the amount of pot being smoked in neighboring rooms. Not sure how that gets policed by the hotel but it should. Nice Lobby area and nice doormen as well.

Stayed here for 5 nights recently. Denis at the door welcomed us: was always chatty and helpful! Lovely hotel with nice, clean rooms and lovely helpful staff. A good hotel in a central location for exploring manhattan. Recommended!

Spent 2 nights at the Shelburne NYC Affinia Hotel and was pleasantly surprised both with the Hotel and the area. The way the streets of New York are names is fascinating and was surprisingly easy to get around on foot to and from the Hotel. There was a very close vendor to take care of our laundry at a very reasonable price. We booked Hop On Hop Off bus from this Hotel Concierge which was easy but be careful that your debit card works as I have been charged 4 times for a card that did not work and am now in the process of trying to retrieve my money back from Shelburne.
Overall the hotel is old and has no tea making facilities or even a kettle in the room but they do offer happy hour with a poor class of wine from 5 to 6 pm.
There is a restaurant on the premises right next to the front door that offers reasonably prices breakfast and was very nice. Service was good.

I booked this last minute for a weekend trip. I got a great price which I was really happy with. While my room was on the 2nd floor and didn't have any view, it was perfect for me. I was out and about a lot of the time and I only needed a bed and a clean bathroom. All of the staff I encountered were very friendly and helpful. Would recommend!
