To start, when the demand pricing gods are shining on the Motto, this is an excellent selection for those who are on a budget and want a very solid choice. The pros below will make the hotel a better choice than others in this category. Beyond price, it will depend on your taste as to whether you will seek the Motto out or look elsewhere.

On the positive side, the front desk staff is a delight to deal with, the rooms are spotless, and the rooms have a cool, spare aesthetic that will appeal to the right tastes. Rooms are small, but this is not a micro hotel, and the layout is functional. Beds are comfortable. A nightclub on the top floor seems quite popular with a younger crowd on weekends. Very central location. So why not leave it at that?

The same things that appeal to some may not appeal to others! The spare look can also be called spartan, with no real furniture, no rugs, perfectly blank white walls, and no multiday housekeeping. No chairs, refrigerators, coffee machines, pictures of any type. Rooms may not be micro, but they certainly aren't commodious either and thus may be a better fit for a single traveler wishing to spread out a bit. The cooling system is effective but blows and sounds like a tropical storm when it's on - I did get used to it after a while. Finally, that disco gets a bit noisy and apparently spike heels are the rage because we could hear them from time to time through the ceiling. You may want to avoid rooms on the 10th floor, especially on weekends and if they are near the elevator shaft. Our room had a nice open city scape view which you might want to request. I had the basic room, and there is an upgrade class - sort of wreaks the budget thing though.

So there you go, you choose. When the price is low, which it is often, this is a very good choice for the money. Beyond that - it's up to your choice in style. I fully expect that there will be ardent believes on both sides of the style issue!

Room tip: No 10th floor, ask for open views, always try for upgrade

As a microhotel, we pride ourselves on providing an efficiently designed space for a great price in a central location. This hotel was perfect for what me and my husband were looking for. The price is very reasonable and the location is absolutely spot on, close to the subway from the airport and 20/30min walk from the historic center. It is very clean and modern and has all the bare necessities but, as a minimalistic hotel, do not expect huge comfort and space. Also, having everything brand new (As they just opened) does help. The Front desk team were amazing and acommodating, special thanks to Maureen, she reallt went above and beyond.

This is a great little hotel on what feels like a quiet side street in Philadelphia. Extremely friendly staff! Rooms are small, but well laid out. But you should not be going to Philadelphia to hang out in a hotel room! Bed is super comfortable and room was spotless. The only breakfast available right now are some pastries and coffee. But the pastries are amazing and the coffee is Stumptown, so hard to beat that. Hopefully they can get the staff needed to reopen their restaurant soon. Five minute walk to Rittenhouse Square park with lots of restaurants and bars nearby. Fifteen minute walk to the city center. Felt very safe walking around the area late at night. Highly recommend this property and I look forward to our next stay!

Room tip: Pay attention to the parking, the garage across the street is pricey.

This hotel was quite amazing stay as I came home over the Fourth of July weekend. Very much in the cut, this hotel is small yet jammed packed with great service, chic design, and very welcoming staff. Ms. Sam, the receptionist, was so welcoming at the very beginning of my stay! We literally swapped places of home cities. My room had a a great view thanks to Sam and everything about the room was so clean, crisp, and comfortable for my stay. The rooftop was such a vibe as the retractable roof was able to give two views at once. The cocktails were a hit and the Mexican flare did not disappoint! I was so pleased I was able to blog about my experiences! I am an industry professional myself and it felt great to be home supporting this team as we recover! Bravo!

Hotel staff very engaging upon arrival. Received a notice of complimentary coffee, pastry for breakfast. Both were good. Had a cool rooftop bar I walked in just to see, but didn't utilize.

No ice machine. CVS 2 minutes away has ice $3.25/bag, so no worries; just a bit of inconvenience. No desk in room for business if you're used to that. Room was fresh/new with big flatscreen Bed super comfortable. Hair dryer in bathroom.

Overall, nice hotel with very good staff, excellent bakery just outside hotel, WAWA 6 minute walk, CVS 2 minute walk and many other places close that visitors would appreciate.
