“great stop”

Reviewed 15 June 2017

this is a great stop on the way to Constitution Center, US Mint, etc. It probably takes 30 minutes to go through the exhibit and interactive sessions. You get some shredded money as souvenir, admission is free. Great place to cool off from the summer heat.

Currency is not made at this site. There is an exhibit on the first floor and this is the only place you are allowed to go. The exhibit was good. Free admission.

You must go through security to get in the building. We were greeted and given a small bag of shredded money and a pamphlet regarding the exhibit. Nice memento! The exhibit is interactive and tests your knowledge of the American banking system. Pity that they don't give out free samples. There is a machine that will take a quarter and replace it with a new commemorative state quarter. Since we have an interest in economics and history, it was enjoyable.

Almost as soon as you walk in, the staff gives you a bag of about $100 worth of shredded bills. Makes a great gift and souvenir. My kids really enjoyed (and so did adults) some of these exhibits on money. Like simulating bank payments (how long to pay back a loan if this much interest, this is monthly payment, and how much total would you end up paying etc) as well as games on money etc. it's free and total you can finish in 5 min (if you just want the money) or up to 45 minutes (if play a bunch of games) as it's all self - guided.

Good information and story of how the fed functions and it purpose. You can get a fresh quarter there (uncirculated condition intended for circulation) out of the machine. Free and worth going. Wish they had more unique things to buy.
