The coffee, the atmosphere, the service, the food. Everything was top notch. So thankful for this little gem of a place. I love Eggs Benedict more than any other brunch food and this one was out of this world. I got the Mozzarella, tomatoes, basil oil, and balsamic vinegar Mediterranean style. It was heaven in my mouth. Next time in Philly I will DEFINITELY be going back to this place.

Did we ever feel fortunate to come across Cafe La Maude. The food is tasty, the atmosphere wonderfully cozy, and - best of all - the owner and staff really care about customers.

We visited, pretty much by accident, on a Sunday morning around 9 a.m. Lucky us, because Cafe La Maude is a popular neighborhood spot which fills up fast. We enjoyed coffee, the Croque Madame, and the Berrylicious Pain Perdu (with mascarpone, although Nutella is an option). It was a challenge to only order two items, because the entire French-Lebanese menu looked tempting. The presentation was beautiful as you can see from the photo. The food details were amazing. For example, each slice of banana was topped with creme brulee. So, each banana bite had delicious crunch, flavor, and texture.

After eating at Cafe La Maude we looked at their website. We sat inside, at the window table which you can see on their website. The windows open, so we had the best of sidewalk fresh air while sheltered inside.

The owner himself was at the restaurant. We chatted with him and he gave us a slice of baklava. We were so full, we wouldn't have tried it otherwise - but are so glad we did. The Cafe La Maude baklava is the best we've had so far.

One note: the entrees are on the expensive side. The Croque Madame was $15 and the Pain Perdu was $15.50. They're not "overpriced" because the food is delicious, service great, and the whole experience is excellent. But, unless you know the food is going to be amazing, prices in this range can be a surprise.

We had no idea that Cafe La Maude existed. Now we know where to go when we're back in Philadelphia.

We caught the red eye into Philadelphia last Sunday. Took a taxi into town and asked the driver to find our destination. It has just rained so the air was perfect and we were in for a treat. There were a couple of people hanging outside and said that we found the right place. It was about seven so there was no wait. Gabby was great. Helped us with the menu and his wife kept the latte's coming. The menu is fantastic. So many new items to choose from. The service impeccable. The portions huge. My daughter is moving to a town 50 miles away and the owners brother lives there as well. Of course he even offered up his brother transportation any time as well. We felt the sincere wishes of family here. We sat near the front and enjoyed the action at the coffee bar. There is outdoor seating as well as a dining room in the rear. He has held the bar high. I hope that it will always stay that way.

Eating here for Brunch has become our Fathers Day tradition. We travel from Washington, DC to participate in the Gary Papa Prostate Cancer race every Fathers Day. Afterwards, my wife, daughter and son in law go here for my Fathers day celebration with family.
The owners of this restaurant are wonderful people. The service they provide is always personal and professional. The food is amazing! Get the Waffles! They are my favorite. Bring a bottle of champagne for your mimosas. The atmosphere is calm and comfortable. The owners will always check on you to see how all is going for you.

We will always make this at a minimum our every Fathers Day Brunch experience.

I was recently in Philadelphia and wanted a brunch spot to take friends that was different from the spots we typically visit. Cafe La Maude definitely fit the bill. We arrived ahead of our friends and grabbed a coffee from the bar. When we inquired about paying, the barista said for us to just tell our server when we got to our table. The honor system - gotta love it! We headed outside to sip our coffees and that is where the real treat began. We got to meet Gabby (sp?) the owner who treats everyone like an old friend. We jokingly called him the mayor of the block. He seemed to know everyone coming in and out of the restaurant. In fact, one couple waited to leave so that they could say good bye personally and give Gabby a hug. We knew we had stumbled onto a gem. We had a fairly long wait outside during which our coffees were refreshed and fresh cream and sugar brough to us. When we were seated, what a delight the menu turned out to be. We opted for the Mediterranean dishes (which I can't remember the names of now). I had a dish with hummus, yogurt with spices, fried cheese and pita accompanies by the freshest tomatoes and cucumbers. Layer all that goodness up and it is like Heaven! The BF had an egg dish which also included ground fava beans. He said it was tasty! Overall, this is an amazing place and we can't wait to go back. I bet Gabby remembers his new friends from St. Louis.
