Food 101
Ranked #2 of 135 Restaurants in Gettysburg
Certificate of Excellence
Description: Step through the door of one of Gettysburg's culinary treasures and be drawn in by the amazing aroma wafting from the open kitchen. A cozy setting within an updated former diner, guests have their pick of small tables or communal dining. The new American cuisine is full of selection and flavor with a changing menu to keep you coming back for something new. Open daily for lunch and dinner, select from fresh salads, sandwiches or dive into an artisan wild mushroom pizza. There's nothing common about the mouth-watering vegetable powerhouse sandwich on wheat berry bread, the muffaletta or any of the chef's seasonal selections. Be sure to include a side of house cut truffle parmesan fries. Save room for a delicious dessert. Made fresh, the selection of cakes and pies are complemented by a frothy cappuccino or caramel macchiato. Lunch or dinner, be sure to make Food 101 part of your next Gettysburg getaway.

We were visiting Gettysburg; read the reviews; tried the restaurant. What a great choice. BYOB is a nice feature. Jeff our server was pleasant and attentive. My pizza was wonderful and my husband loved his tuna “burger” and truffle fries. We wish we lived close.

What a bargain for a great meal.

Detour for lunch. I used Happy Cow to find a vegetarian friendly place for lunch. I had the powerhouse vegetarian sandwich and my husband the blackened salmon sandwich, both with fresh cut fruit. Followed by a flourless chocolate cake. Everything was delicious. Total with tax and ti, $35

In Gettysburg for a couple of days, were looking for “something different”. Noticed Food 101 while walking through town. What a true gem. Easy to miss, well worth looking for. Had the Caprese Chicken, excellent. My wife had the Apple Chicken Sandwich w/ Truffle fries, another winner. Great staff, good price, 5 stars!!!!

This is a great little spot for a sandwich, which is actually a full meal in itself considering the size. Service was fast, polite and efficient. The ingredients were fresh, well laid out and tasty. The handmade potatoe chips were a delight. All told: highly recommended. We visited on Mother’s Day late in the afternoon on a very rainy, wet and overcast day. A neat little oasis in this truly historic town.

We enjoyed a great meal here Mother’s Day weekend. We each got a salad (arugula and edamame for me, strawberry and dried cherries for my husband); both were tasty although I would have like a tad less arugula and a bit more edamame and cucumbers. Our Wild Mushroom White pizza was delicious, with sweet camelized onions. The service was efficient and friendly. We were forewarned to bring our own wine, and a server promptly brought us glasses and opened the bottle as soon as we say down.
