So we really, really enjoyed this local theater production.
You could tell from the opening-acts that the local community takes a great deal of pride in this long-running play detailing stories and history of Astoria and its associated industries.
We felt the acting was very good (did the old-timer banjo player have a few nips of whiskey pre-play?) and the music and general feel of the entire production was very fun and festive.
Beautiful costumes, decent acoustics (we sat in the front row) and bar service available.
The popcorn throwing was clearly a highlight for our 12 and 15 year-old boys. We may have caught the play villains off-guard a time or two by sending greasy missiles of popcorn balls into their faces and once into a villain mouth - mid speaking line!!
Very entertaining production - probably the least expensive thing we did in Astoria and with-out question - we would return for another production here.
