Description: For over 90 years, Johnny Harris Restaurant has been a staple of Historic Savannah dining. Three public dining rooms: the "Kitchen", the "Ballroom" with high starlit ceiling, and the Maple Room Tavern all provide an eclectic atmosphere for your dining enjoyment. The signature BBQ sauces are a great compliment to the famous pit-smoked items, and the secret recipe fried chicken is not to be missed. Family ownership gives this restaurant an intimate feel despite it's size, and the restaurant cookbook, penned by Julie D. Lowenthal, is a must take home keepsake. Private dining room bookings are available as well as adjacent banquet facilities with seating up to 200.

I sure hate to see places like this torn down for a strip mall and parking lot. Very sad.

This place started in 1924 as a BBQ shack and by 1936 it's what you see before you today. The round design was influenced by the Thunderbolt Casino. As you sit down to eat just try to imagine how it was in 1936 with it's revolving bandstand, good food, good booze, and everyone dancing. They still have the buttons to push at the tables to ring for service.

I had their batter-less fried chicken which was excellent. My husband liked his NY Strip. They also had a good beer selection. Our server, Samantha, was awesome. Everyone working in there was very friendly. They all seemed to be very sad it will soon be a parking lot.

If you are anywhere in the area you really need to plan on stopping here. It's really a step back into time.

I had the chicken pecan salad. Delicious! It was exactly as Brennan, our server, described...chicken salad surrounded by fruit. Food, service, and atmosphere were all excellent.

The atmosphere makes me think about a time when folks danced in the ball room. The food is wonderful ! Dining offers a dining room , bar, and cafe style.

Stopped in for lunch and only grabbed a few burgers but the service and the burgers were very good. We were running a little late for a tee time so the waiter, Eric did a great job of getting us served quickly. We'll give it another try when back in the area.
They were very busy.
