We were looking for something different for our stay in the Fairbanks area. We really didn't want to stay downtown in a hotel, and we were hoping to see the Aurora (even though we knew it was a little early in the season for it). This place is awesome. It has all the amenities of home, but in a unique setting with beautiful views! We took a hike up behind the yurt, and really saw some beautiful scenery (and some interesting animal sign, if you know what I mean!!), and really enjoyed the glorious day. It was cool out, and a little windy, but we still built a makeshift fire ring in the driveway (with Colleen's permission- we took it apart the next day) and were able to grill out on the deck for dinner. The bed was super comfy, and we lacked for nothing. Definitely a great "off the beaten path" place to stay! Sadly, we didn't see the Aurora, but that just gives us an excuse to come back another time!
Wow, where do we start? We were able to see the Northern lights, 3 of the 4 nights. Only 15 miles from a 360 mountain top view also. We just sat on the porch and watched God's paintings!
The yurt was clean and well stocked. We so enjoyed staying in our first Yurt! Colleen was easy to communicate with and even gave me a wake up text when the lights kicked in one night.
We loved the auto museum and Chena hot springs.
This yurt was a great way to experience Alaska. The view was beautiful and the yurt was very comfortable. We enjoyed the information shared by the owner of things to do in the area and attended several locations. We would love to stay again when we could see the Northern lights from the loft. If you want to stay somewhere other than a hotel, this truly is a wonderful "home away from home"!
We always wanted to see the Northern Lights and for years just talked about it. We finally took the plunge and flew to Fairbanks and stayed in this amazing yurt! There were 4 adults and it was plenty big enough for all of us. When we arrived it was snowing and the following day it was -14 degrees. Brrrrrrr but we were nice an cozy and warm in the yurt! We saw ice sculpting, rode on an Alaskan dog sled, had a drink in the Ice Bar and saw a moose! Unfortunately Mother Nature did not bless us with an Aurora, but the vacation itself was an adventure to remember.
Collen, the owner of the yurt was so responsive and helpful. We felt right at home. THANK YOU, Colleen !
Great stay here at Coleen's yurt B! My boyfriend and I headed to Anchorage and Fairbanks in search of the Northern Lights. We were lucky to have seen them earlier in the week and ended our trip here at the Yurt. The location is right outside of Fairbanks. During winter, AWD is needed. The yurt is very spacious, clean and enjoyable. 3 bedroom areas (which includes a ladder to a loft), small living room area, and nice size kitchen with stove, refrigerator, and island to sit around. Cable and Wifi, washer and dryer, kitchen supplies and towels, and more are all in the yurt. There are also head lamps to use. The yurt is very cute and makes you feel like you are in Alaska. Thanks Coleen!
