Owner description: The New York Transit Museum, one of the city's leading cultural institutions, is the largest museum in the United States devoted to urban public transportation history, and one of the premier institutions of its kind in the world. The Museum explores the development of the greater New York Metropolitan region through the presentations of exhibitions, tours, educational programs, and workshops dealing with the cultural, social, and technological history of public transportation. Since its inception over a quarter century ago, the Museum, housed in a historic 1936 IND subway station in Brooklyn Heights, has grown in scope and popularity. As custodian and interpreter of the region's extensive public transportation networks, the Museum strives to share, through its public programs, this rich and vibrant history with local, regional, and international audiences.

We had a great time. My boyfriend and his son had an amazing time playing with the interactive exhibits. Everything was detailed and up to date. Somethings I had no idea effected the transit system were even included. I would certainly visit again.

Several years ago I got subway map tee shirts for my cousin's children in California. They love them! in fact, they still wear them.

One of, if not the best the best transport related museums / exhibits I have visited anywhere. I was amazed at just how many exhibits were stabled in the platforms, all of which were fully open and available for all to see, bar one that was undergoing some restoration as could be seen through the windows. Everything has been restored to a high standard, or in some cases has been left in its original 'used' condition which gives a definite charm that needs to be preserved. The short visual/audio interactive presentations from MTA staff recalling their duties during 9/11, Hurricane Sandy, the 2003 blackout and so on were both fascinating and eye opening.

Would definitely recommend to anyone whether you are a transport enthusiast or not!

Absolutely loved this trip!!! What I loved most is that it wasn't full of tourists...it was full of New Yorkers! That's what made it sooo much fun!
