We had never paid for a hot spring before coming here, rather choosing to make long drives and hikes to soak far away from other people. However, after contacting the Gila forest service about the state of the natural hot springs that are so plentiful in the area, we were told about this place.
For $6 per person per night including campsite, this is an awesome deal. The campsite is simple but nice, with a picknick table and fire ring. Carla, the lady who runs the place with her husband, was friendly and attentive.
It's the hot springs that really make this place though. There are 3 pools of differing temperature (from hot to very hot), and each of them are incredibly clean, comfortable, and, importantly, deep enough to fully submerge.
As much as I appreciate remoteness and being away from people, these hot springs allow you to soak until you're ready for bed, stroll to your tent, and pass out while radiating heat.
There's a Luke-warm water spout, and a hot water spout, which is great for dishes.
The gila river also flows by just a few feet from the hot springs, so you can take a cool dip too.
Highly recommended, we will be back.More
