We can not recommend, the food is not good and very expensive. (5$ for 5 small frozen supermarket springrolls) Coffee machine was broken, 2 other dishes frim the menu not available.
No beach, just dirty water. The only thing they still exist is probably they are the only ones for miles around.
Very disappointing experience!

The underlying problem with Nataya Resort is that the management has very poor understanding of what it takes to run a resort...
The concept of the 'round house village' is appealing, the setting is beautiful, - and that is basically it on the positive side.
Upon arrival, we entered a reception area that was a total mess; it looked more like a storage room for a dubious import/export company, - and it looked the same way when we left three days later.
The round houses are spacious, but the local wildlife ( like cockroaches and beetles ) have free access to the rooms, as there are wide openings between doors and floors.
Housekeeping and cleanliness is poor, and seems to consist mainly of spraying 'purifying' scents around the rooms.
We needed to book a car for transportation to Phnom Penh, but front desk was not helpful, and said that this was not something they would assist with. We were given a random stack of cards from local taxi-drivers, and "help yourself"...
But, - our main issue was with safety. We spent New Year's Eve at Nataya, and at midnight all guests were ushered down to the beach. First the guests were given lanterns to release into the air, - which was quite beautiful, but lacking safety, as two children got burn wounds.
BUT, - then a few of the staff started sending off fireworks, placed randomly into the sand, or held in their hands, - with no control, whatsoever. The fireworks went everywhere, - luckily no one got hurt.

We would not stay here again, - nor recommend it to anybody, UNTILL the management has put their act together, and got a grip on what it takes to run a 'resort'.
What we experienced was poor performance on nearly every level.
And that was really sad, - as the location is so beautiful, and Cambodia needs appealing seaside resorts that are quiet and calm alternatives to Sihanoukville.

We were very excited about our stay at Nataya as it looked great on the web. The setting was indeed very beautiful. Right on the beach front, set in a gorgeous garden and a really lovely infinity pool. The rooms them selves were also lovely, although not as private as we'd hoped. Each round house is actually 2 rooms and we were unlucky enough to have several young men as our neighbours who liked to party till late. However this was certainly not the reason for our disappointment as this is just part of the rough and smooth of travelling. Reviews seemed to indicate the place had a great food but we found it to be very poor quality and excessively expensive by Cambodian standards. Breakfasts were very dull, white bread toast and a a very sparse selection of Asian noodle and rice dishes. The white bread was surprising given you can get beautiful French bread baked each day in Kampot. Dinner had a limited menu which seemed to change daily but never for the better. The resort is some 15 k from Kampot itself and they only run a shuttle to and from Kampot twice a day, in at 10 am and out 4pm. A tuk tuk is about $15US each way so unless you have private transport you are trapped. There are no Tuk Tuk's waiting at the gate either. The website advertises a romantic walk along the mangroves to a fishing village nearby. We were looking forward to it only to realise the path was not open and the bridge across the mangroves seemed to have been in disrepair for some time. It is such a pity because the location is lovely and the staff all very courteous and helpful. It just wasn't value for money, very disappointing. Might be ok for a night if you have your own transport.

Thinking we were heading to a back alley hotel off the main road it was a really big surprise when we drove down a tree lined driveway to reception. This resort was bigger than we imagined, beautiful rooms, great pool, wonderful gardens, staff were very pleasant and helpful.

Only cons; bed was hard and pillows were too high, music in restaurant was too loud and same 2-3 songs played over and over, Western food was not good at all, (breakfast excluded), and you really need to watch out for the falling coconuts!!

The resort is about a 10-15min drive to town, and should be considered a place to get away from it all and unwind for holiday goers.

I live in Phnom Penh and need to just get out of the city for a bit. I absolutely loved this place. Found a really good discount for off-season which made it affordable for volunteer like me.

Beautiful and I like that it's away from everything. Got to really soak up nature and the pool is incredible.

My only negative (and it is what I dislike about just about anywhere in SE Asia) is the noise! I don't know why the staff found it necessary to blast music constantly in the restaurant at a volume we had to shout above. I wanted to hear the birds and the ocean water lapping the shore. We asked them to turn down the music once when we were the only ones in there and they did oblige but, the rest of the time, we chose to sit as far away as possible to not have to hear it. Even first thing in the morning it was blasting well beyond speaker capacity. I think it was more for the staff than the guests. If people are wanting to get out of the city and escape the chaos and noise, this is not pleasant.

Room tip: If you don't want constant noise, get a room as far away from the pool & restaurant as possible.
