This was the third place on our vacation. We had stayed in two very good places in Sanur and Gili prior to making the mistake to come up to Amed. We chose Amed because we felt we would do some snorkeling, which we didn't do (that had nothing to do with the hotel, but rather a sick BF). We had come to Amed without a reservation and our driver recommended this place.

Firstly, the grounds are wonderful. you enter the property and are blown away. Separate bungalows, which look amazing outside. The pool is great and the pathways are well kept. So when we got there - and heard the price - IDR350,000/night, we were floored! Of course we would take it!

We were told upon arrival that they take Visa. They don't. And there is NO ATM in Amed. If you must pay by Visa (because they said they would upon arrival), they take you to Amed cafe to process your card (Amed cafe looks like a much better place to stay, btw and is down the road a good 20 min walk). They also charge you 5% extra for using your Visa. This really pissed me off. By this time, I was use to everyone charging an extra 3% to use my Visa. But to find out they wanted to take me 20 mins down the road and charge me an extra 5% was ridiculous. And its not like our stay was worth it.

The rooms are unclean. They do make up your bed every day, but they CLEARLY don't clean the washroom or change the towels. There are bug EVERYWHERE! HUGE spiders. I get it, its Asia. But no other place we stayed had bugs this bad. The facets was broken and old and the shower - well, if you stay, you deserve that little surprise yourself.

The breakfast was the worse we'd had our entire stay.

And on top of it, there is nothing to do in Amed if you aren't diving. And if you wish to find out what you can do in the area and how to get transport (something that's usually not a problem in Bali), the staff don't speak English - so they can't help you.

And the internet never worked. And the staff looked like they had never seen a modem before.

I hated this place. If my BF hadn't been sick for the two nights we were there, we would have moved on.

sorry to tell this but we thought it would be our relaxing spot. my husband could go for a few dyves and me to relax at the pool and te beach with the children (ages: almost 3 and 4) We just asked for lunch before unpacking the backpacks, we were told (in poor English) the restaurant was "under construction"; "not in use" at the moment. we could accept that, lunch at our terras. We started eating our sate's till I found a piece of brick in my food!! I spitt it out and continued my lunch knowing I am in Azia; not in Europe....!/!?! But after a few spoons of rice I found a STAPLE in it!!!!! thank god I did not eat it, or MY CHILDREN! When we told the "staff' he told us 'the cook was nearly blind' and she made a mistake, this would not happen again..... and they just did not understand our concernes for our health. New rice was arriving, but my appitite was gone and so was the confidence in the hotel and staff. WE DICIDED TO LEAVE, we found a hotel along the road and packed our stuff and had a good time there....
* the beach was dirty (black sand ofcourse) and a mess
* English was bad, 1 person some
* the could not decide anything, had to ask the Boss's daughter about not paying for my sate meal.. the boss was to busy doing something else...not related to the 'hotel'. We did not see him.

We really enjoyed our stay at this new resort. The rooms were attractive, clean, had A/C and were reasonably priced. Great location for snorkelling off the beach and walking up the hill for sunset views over Jemeluk and Mount Agung. Resort is family run and were very helpful planning boat and car trips. Only about an hours drive from Candidasa with beautiful scenery and past the lovely Tirta Ganga water palace. If you want to have a great time, relax and not spend all your money at once then I can recommend this place. Thanks to Nyoman, Wayan and their family for making our stay so enjoyable! We had a sensational ayam tutu (slow-cooked chicken) at their restaurant. Cafe C'est Bon across the road is also excellent.
