This resort whilst being out of the main tourist area of Bali and a long slow trip as there is no main highway, is nevertheless worth staying at. Stunning grounds and a view of Tanah Lot that is spectacular. The resort is on the ocean surrounded by a golf course. The hotel is old but the rooms are well appointed and comfy. 4 connecting pools with a waterslide and good food quality. Gym is excellent and a good spa. Cable tv and internet provided. Drinks are not cheap but there are bars within easy walking distance if you want outside the hotel. But back to the view- rolling waves and the temple and a great ambience. Good for a relax even if you don't like golf. Driftwood restaurant fab with great staff and lovely outdoor decor. Hotel staff all helpful and happy to assist without being over the top.

Friends recommended Pan Pacific Nirwana repeatedly. So after some deliberation, decided to give it a go, despite it exceeding my usual economical resort stay budget.

Pan Pacific Nirwana has 4 key physical features in its favour: the sheer expanse of walking space in the resort grounds, the jaw-dropping seaview, the pools and the cabañas. While you don't get the usual easy access to a beach (unlike in Seminyak or Kuta), the landscape and rhythm of the resort has enough to offer to lull you into just staying within Pan Pacific Nirwana without needing to venture out.

The grounds are a stroller or flâneur's dream, be it in the morning or evening for golfers or just guests. The resort is perched on cliffs overlooking pounding waves and a sea that stretches unobstructed far and very wide. The warungs nearby - a mere 5mins walk (15mins under the relentlessly and blazingly hot sun during my stay 7-10 Apr) offer amazing hilltop views of Tanah Lot temple and the thoroughfare below, while you tuck in local fare and sip mocktails (getting a tad pricey).

The pools - they have 5, all irregular in shapes and sizes, tiered and multipurposed for kids and adults with built in slides, jacuzzis and massage waterfalls - are a magnet for just lazing the day and evening away with its tantalising bed-sized lounges and F&B ordering service.

Admittedly, the F&B is really expensive and needs considerable improvement (my BBQ spare ribs from the poolside was overly dry and tough) but the portions are huge - I took more than an hour just the main course. Likewise the resort restaurant Driftwood (my lamb rump was rather burnt) and Merica the breakfast restaurant, both very exorbitant and average in taste, quality and preparation. But the al fresco view at Merica at breakfast is to die for - go early and grab a table nearest to the koi pond and breakfast to the sights of pounding waves from afar Tanah Lot temple.

Friends were raving about the cabañas - and rightfully so. What is there not to like as you lounge and laze in a cabaña on a king-sized bed that overlooks the sea below, listening to waves and wind, as you surf the Internet on free WIFI that's available everywhere within the resort.

The room is a dream - they already processed a free upgrade for me to the 5th level even as I asked how much to pay for an upgrade - with ample space and a generous balcony. The view overlooked the pool and the sea. Service was impeccable and top-notch, from the concierge who showed me to my room, to the bellhop who sent me off. Attentive and comprehensive.

My only gripe was they overcharged me for the last breakfast by an extra SGP10 or so. But by the time I checked, I was already at the airport.

But all in all, it was a truly relaxing and rewarding stay that calls for a return trip soon.

Room Tip: Request for an upgrade to the 5th level.

Dear Pan Pacific Guest,

Thank you for staying with us at Pan Pacific Nirwana Resort in Bali for your recent holiday and sharing your experience with us on Trip Advisor. We value your time and energy since our guests' perspective is very important to us and so is your constructive feedback, for our team as well as for readers and visitors from all around the world.

On behalf of the Nirwana team, I would like to thank you for your encouraging comments on the beautiful view from our resort overlooking Indian Ocean and Tanah Lot temple, well-designed swimming pools, spacious rooms with impeccable service. We will be honoured to share your feedback with everyone.

We also noted your constructive comments in regards to the food pricing and food quality in our restaurants. In terms of pricing, I would like to mention that Pan Pacific Nirwana is proudly (priced) positioned significantly lower than all the other 5-star hotels in Seminyak and Nusa Dua. The main reason for this approach is our location and due to the fact that our in-house guests have less alternative options in the neighbourhood, our repeat business in our restaurants and bars is obviously higher and therefore, we do have a commitment to provide the highest value for money and quality. However, on behalf of our team, please accept our most sincere apologies for not meeting your expectations at every level, your valuable feedback is appreciated.

Once again, thank you for sharing your point of view with our readers and we look forward to welcoming you back again to Pan Pacific Nirwana Bali Resort.

Our fourth floor room had a door that did not close without being slammed resulting in both staff and Chinese tourist exploring our room. Thankfully husband was actually in the room at the time. First three breakfasts .... No teaspoons with cup and saucers, coffee and tea served without milk. Not one beverage (breakfast, pool, happy hour at the lounge) was served in under 20 minutes. Breakfast and lunch cold by then. Dinner at Driftwood however was a delight and Martini a real gem who was prompt with our meals and kept the mosquitos at bay. Bar prices are ridiculously high although comparable with five star resorts. All in all a relaxing few days in a gorgeous setting, but we are disappointed and are checking out a day early today.

Room Tip: Fourth floor ocean view

We stayed here for 8 nights as part of a luxury escapes package which included daily breakfast + lunch/dinner and a few other inclusions.

RESORT:
Amazing! Pan Pacific Nirwana is a sprawling resort located close to the majestic Tanah Lot temple and set on high ground overlooking the Indian Ocean. The resort has 3 lagoon pools, upper, middle and lower with a huge waterslide that takes you from the upper to the lower pool. There is an abundance of deck chairs, huts, and day beds to relax on. You can order food/drinks by the pool via a buzzer system. There is a well equipped gym which was good and also a kids playroom which had air hockey, a ball pit etc. There is also a nice spa on site including sauna and steam room. Wifi signal was pretty good with unlimited device connection. The staff here are super friendly and helpful. There are a range of daily activities (see attached pic) and one day I did a morning run with a gym staff member which was a 2k loop and was a great start to the day. The resort is attached to a Greg Norman designed gold course and there is also a driving range which we hit 50 balls at. If your looking at venturing into Seminyak/Kuta I'd recommend a metered taxi which only cost us approx IDR150,000. Our metered taxi to the airport cost IDR 200,000.

ROOM:
We paid extra for a deluxe type room located on the ground floor with close proximity to the pool (see attached pic). It was only about a 20 metre walk from our room to the pool which was excellent as we have young kids which could go back and forth. Room was a decent size with 2 queen beds, large tv and good sized bathroom with separate bath and shower. The room was promptly cleaned (even mopped) daily with complimentary bottled water provided each day.

FOOD:
We ate all our meals except one dinner at the resort. Initially we were a bit reluctant about this as we like to have dinners at different restraunts each day but we were pleasently surprised how good the food was which included one seafood buffet night, an italian night and a Balinese food night. Breakfast each was excellent with a huge variety of choice including made to order coffee/omelettes/eggs.

TANAH LOT:

The Tanah Lot temple is about a 10min walk from the resort. It's a very busy place and holds a lot of cultural significance to not just Balinese but Indonesians in general. There are also markets near the temple selling the usual arts/crafts and clothing. There are a couple of places to eat overlooking the temple but we did not try any of them. If the sky is clear there are some amazing sunsets with the temple as a backdrop.

Overall we had an excellent and very relaxing stay here.

Room Tip: Ground floor rooms opposite pool great for families.

Majestic setting on over 100Ha (including golf course) of undulating coastline, majestic architecture, including best pools I have ever had the good fortune to lounge around for hours on end. Food was good, great breakfast. Five minute walk to beautiful Tanah Lot temple via coastline-much more serene than the 300m harrowing tourist market strip most bus tourist would have to go through before temple proper! Friendly staff. Two nights here was enough, no need to venture out to the world (beyond Tanah lot).
Good gym, I did not use the spa, it looked expensive but beautiful. Great Balinese food night with cultural dance on Fridays..recommended
I got a good deal through Agoda, and would love to come back and bring my partner.. this was wasted on a solo visitor!
