Where do i start.... We were a very very large group of snowboarders and skiers from a UK national club holding our annual bash at The Gasthof.
The Staff:
Headed up by Daan, the team at the Gasthof were brilliant. All friendly, laid back, personable... always with a smiles on their faces. They really did look after us all. We arrived meeting a great team and left with some amazing new friends! These guys and girls made this trip... They made the experience! There are also a few exceptional that have been named in this review for their level of service.
Location:
This is located out of the town, but about 8-10mins will get you to bars and restaurants. About 5mins is the main train station.... Absolutely perfect for either travelling into resort or visiting other local resorts such as Kaltenbach. It is in a beautiful setting right by the river.... and you can take a lovely river walk.
The Facilities:
The Gasthof has accomodation for visitors and seasonnaires, consisting of a mix of double rooms and apartments. All locked with digital bracelets, so now more carrying that key! So great options to select from. They have a breakfast and dinner room on site (see food and drink section). They have boot drying facilities, ski and snowboard storage, a waxing room where you can service your equipment on site. They also have a fully serviced bar and a lovely outside sitting area by the river. For those of you driving, car parking is also available.
The ski bus stop is literally right outside which is a great asset and takes you to various places throughout the town.
Food:
The kitchen team on site are great. We had some people with dietary requirements which the head chef and kitchen team took such care to accomodate these. Thanks Thomas, you were fab and thanks for keeping us all fed!
Note they dont offer a restaurant service. Evening food is offered as part of a package, not as a walk in service but bed and breakfast i believe is standard.
The Bar:
This is the heart of The Gasthof and where we as a group made some amazing memories!
Jimmy, the Bar Manager and Maikel looked after us night after night... even catering for our groups love of spiced rum! These guys did not stop... their energy and level of customer service was fantastic. They hosted our events throughout the week.. from Quiz night to Beerpong! We were even lucky enough to become part of the end of season Beach Party they hold for the seasonnaires where they shipped in a load of sand for the bar and went all out.
Something else to note... The drinks here are cheaper than in town and the spirit measures are larger too! What more could you ask for.... Well erm, perhaps not the local schnaps! Downfall of us all!
Value:
With all of the above, it is easy to say that The Gasthof is great value for money.
Overall:
Hands down, my favourite place i have ever stayed in the mountains. The mountain is smaller than others ive been too, such as Paradski and 3Valleys in France, although you do have access to other resorts using the local train. But its good terrain and the town is lovely.
Final word.... We will be back, if you will have us!
