This is a hard review to write as there are so many positives about Manni’s SportHotel, but then with the negatives that do impact your holiday it is hard to score our stay that will help other travellers, so I have had to give this 3 stars as average but before I go on, I would stay here again.
POSITIVE
The hotel is on the Main Street and only a 2 minute walk to the main gondola, and has easy access to all the restaurants and bars, plus shops, and right next door is a supermarket for all your snacks and drinks for your hotel room, so a very central location.
The hotel is a traditional building and very clean, in fact all of Mayrhofen is exceptionally clean, the rooms are basic even the superior room which we stayed in, our room over looked the Main Street which although beautiful views with a balcony for you to sit outside, it has a big issue when you can hear people in the street shouting and singing at 4am in the morning.
The room has a minibar fridge, so we took all the drinks out and stored them on the shelves and replaced with snacks and water from the supermarket, now be aware the still bottle water in Mayrhofen in Hotels, Restaurants and Bars is very expensive and costs €5.20 for 500ml bottle when you can buy 6 x 500ml bottles from the supermarket next door for €2.49, so stock up there.
The hotel has a good size heated indoor/outdoor swimming pool and outside jacuzzi which is amazing after a long day on the mountain, it also has a steam room and sauna which are exceptionally clean, you get slippers, towels and bath-rope included in your room, so a great touch to enjoy the facilities. It is awesome to enjoy a rooftop heated pool while it is snowing, very enjoyable.
There is a small gym which we never used but again very clean and well kept.
The basement has an area for you to store your skis and snowboards, boots and equipment which is safe and heated. With access via a key card.
NEGATIVE
The staff can be somewhat off putting, most are welcoming and will say good morning and have a good day, but we had a few challenges which other people have commented on in reviews, but the biggest let down is the Wi-Fi, because it is totally rubbish, even when we discussed this with a manager and she reboot the router the speed was below 1Mg, and although a large hotel, if you go to the top of the mountain to Kaser Mandl the free Wi-Fi up in the mountain there is over 100Mb, so how a Hotel in central Mayrhofen has such poor internet is shocking.
You could not even open Facebook as it was that bad and even at 4am in the morning when most people would be sleeping and not using the internet the service barely got above 1Mb.
Luckily as we are from Scotland and still in the EU we could use our mobile data free which for Vodafone was over 60Mb.
So if you require Wi-Fi while in the hotel, Good Luck because it really is shockingly bad, and yes it did disrupt our holiday somewhat, but when dining in local restaurants they all have free Wi-Fi which is very fast.
The other negative is the cost of drinks, very expensive so use the supermarket for basic soft drinks and water. €5 for a bottle of water.
The breakfast was OK, good choice for a cold continental, but for a hot breakfast the choice was greasy bacon, some sort of sausage and scrambled egg only, and a hit or miss if you got any, so although our breakfast was included we went out and got a far better choice.
Lastly as it is an old building you can hear other people very clearly, kids shouting and babies crying so although we loved our holiday and would stay again in Manni’s SportHotel, I suggest you make sure you use your own mobile data for internet, stock up on water from the supermarket and bring ear plugs for sleeping
So due to this I can only award 3 stars as average, but maybe the owners will sort the internet out, and this is my opinion from our 7 nights and yes I would stay again as the hotel is very clean and very central to the gondola and restaurants and bars.
Quick suggestion on restaurants which I have also reviewed, try Ciao Italian which is left out of the hotel and on the corner, extremely good and well priced, very friendly staff and free Wi-Fi
Thank you
