The Beach Villas at Kahalu'u are very nice. The unit we stayed in 1-201 was perfect. Other guests said the were pleased with their units too. The condos are located at the southern end of Alii Drive - the slower, quieter end. The location right across from Kahalu'u Beach Park is very convenient. We loved just crossing the street to some of the best snorkeling on the Big Island. Only about a mile north is White Sands Beach - a great place for body surfing and bogie boarding. The infinity pool and hot tub are really nice and we enjoyed them both often.

If you're looking for a condo very close to a perfect beach for snorkelling and getting very close to turtles and there are just two of you, then this is the place! Having read reviews I knew that only a few basic provisions would be there, so it's necessary to visit the supermarket before settling in. The condo is one bedroom, but such a comfortable bed - big and soft - perfect!! The bathroom is big, and the kitchen and living area are also more than adequate. The lanaii served very nicely as an outdoor dining room. The condo had been very well prepared and was clean. The outside facilities are also very well looked after e.g. pool, hot tub, barbeque. It would have been helpful to have had instructions as to how to turn on the AC or where to take the trash to, but these were soon resolved (although it took us three days to find out how to turn the AC on!!!l
What was really good were the plentiful supply of towels, including beach towels, a cool box, back pack chairs etc. The wi-fi is good, although it would have been better if it was more secure. We've been here for six nights and have another six to go, and I'd love to return some time - such a pity it's a long way from the United Kingdom!!

Stayed in unit 2-203. Gail was exceptional in helping us plan this vacation. She called us and emailed us a " things to do" with links to many great things to do while at the condo. She also called us when we arrived at the condo with a welcome and contacts if we had a problem. We had none. I just read a comment about the pool. They were right about it needing work but we talked to Shan the grounds keeper and he said that work was going to start at the end of April. Also, the fish at the beach across the street were amazing. All in all we had a fantastic time and hated to leave. Can't wait to book this condo again for our next vacation in Hawaii.

My husband and i stayed in condo 2-101 at the Beach Villas the second week of March and loved it! The condo is very modern, well decorated and well-maintained. Although its on the first floor, its quiet and there's a great view of the beach from the lanai. The kitchen is equipped with every appliance, dish and amenity you could ever want or need while on vacation. The pictures provided by the property manager are very accurate and not at all exaggerated. The only downside for us was that it was a ground floor unit and we just weren't comfortable leaving the doors and windows open at night. The location was amazing!!! It's about 4 milkes from the heart of the main city Kailuha - Kona, along Ali'i Drive. There's also a shopping mall with a good grocery store, drug store and some restaurants not even a mile away. The beach was nice. While the sand is more coarse than other beaches the main attraction is the snorkelling -- which is phenomenal!!! The beach is essentially a shallow reef that thousands of fish and sea turtles call home. Even the most faint of heart can snorkel here! While it got quite busy mid-day the mornings and late afternoons were lovely. We spent a lot of time there watching the turtles and relaxing. And its right across the street from the condo so you can beat the convenience! We have no hesitation in recoemmending this vacation condo and unit 2-101 - would defintiely stay here again!

We stayed in unit 2-101, beautifully decorated and well maintained. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was stocked with a good selection of dishes and cookware. The whirlpool spa was nice, and the small pool was clean and rarely used by others when we were there. Complex was across the street from a great snorkeling beach (one of the major reasons I selected it), which had at least one sea turtle there each time we went.

Our only complaints: when we arrived, there was a strong chemical smell, probably from cleaning solutions. It took two days for it to dissipate. And the bathrooms sinks were the stupidest design I have ever seen: elegant looking, but they were large glass bowels on top of already high sink counters. I'm on the short side, so it was a little hard for me to use them. But the positive points far outweighed these issues.

We rented through Abbey Vacation Rentals, whose staff allowed us to print our boarding passes at their nearby office. (There was internet access but no printer at the unit.)
