After staying in VRBO's the last two times we were in Kona we decided to try this hotel instead. I am glad we did - it is right in town and rooms are very well appointed - up to the HIE standard. They have a great morning breakfast. The pool is a little small but there is a hot tub. We will return.

I rarely write a negative review without giving the management a chance to rectify the situation. I did try to get help with dirty sheets, black spots, on both sides of my bed. The housecleaning supervisor said it was my fault since they check the sheets daily. I explained I traveled solo this time, and slept on one side of the bed, so how was there spots on both sides of the bed? The front staff said we will not offer you any type of compensation, as it was not our responsibility. Wow, left another message on their website which was ignored. I cannot recommend this property given how this was handled. Check the sheets and towels before you touch them, but be aware the staff doesn’t seem to value your business. Very disappointing for a large company not to stand by good customer service.

We had a last-minute change of plans due to a flight cancellation and ended up needing emergency accommodation for one night. Holiday Inn was very accommodating and definitely calmed a stressful situation. We got in considerably earlier than expected after a long flight from Australia plagued with delays. They kindly arranged an early check in, provided parking for a small fee and the front desk staff were very helpful suggesting places nearby for food and refreshment.
Breakfast and facilities are average, but the location is wonderful with the bustling front street only about a block's walk. Thanks again to the staff for their kindness. It really made all the difference as we were simply exhausted by the time we arrived. The front desk staff were also very helpful providing cutlery packs for takeout food and additional towels.
So I stayed here for 4 nights. The location is good and you can walk to beach and restaurants. Room is spacious.
Check in process is painful as the person who checked us in forgot to tell us
- that due to covid, we need to tell specifically whether we need the room to be cleaned
- The process for handling parking overflow
Only other issue was that the breakfast had limited gluten and dairy free items. It will be better to include at least some gluten free bread and omelette without cheese
I did find one of the staff member Rick (sorry if I remember name incorrectly) very helpful.

We stayed here after flying into, and again before flying out of, Kona. Close to the airport, as well as beaches and shops. Clean and quiet. Several hot and cold breakfast choices, but pancake maker and juice machine were out of service. Good base for driving to Hilo.

We book hotels like this for the comfortable room, free breakfast and other family friendly amenities. What elevates this hotel is the execution of those tasks to make for a pleasant experience and the great location (5 minute walk from the water and shopping areas).
The pool is clean (if a bit small) and unfortunately the pancake machine was broken while we were there but otherwise it was a good stay and a reasonably good value (given the area).
