This is a gem of a sushi restaurant in an unassuming building. We ordered the Deluxe Sushi Boat for 2, it did not disappoint! House saki was so-so, but the food was so good it didn't really matter.

Our first experience with Sushi Shiono was outstanding. We truly thought it was a fluke. Our second visit was equally good if not better.

The hamachi as fresh and flavorful as it gets. The tempura is outstanding, light, not greasy and well proportioned. And the rolls, good luck choosing only one.

The staff and service are exceptional. Kubota is one of my preferred sake brands yet very hard to find...Sushi Shiono has an extensive sake list.

Hopefully they at around to stay.

We went to this restaurant around 8pm one night. Obviously it was busy but we wanted to leave our name and see how long it would be approximately for a table. They kept saying they would be fit with us, stood in front of us many times. swept the floor cleaned and rearranged tables for at least 20 minutes. I quietly mouthed to my husband maybe we should go elsewhere because it was getting late and they were ignoring us. The woman in charge (others talked to us but they said we had to wait for her to leave our name) so we knew she was in charge beligerantly told us in a very loud voice "you can go somewhere else". My husband wanted to wait and it was another 5 to 10 minutes and she still did not come to take his name. So after standing for 25 minutes being treated like an imposition rather than a customer we left and did not return at any point on our 2 week visit to the island. There are so many welcoming lovely restaurants, that appreciate the business that we preferred to give our business to.

This is a good sushi restaurant, not average or very good, but good. It is busy and the employees did a great job of accommodating our large group. The service was good, and the I enjoyed the sushi. Not the best sushi I have ever had, but a good meal

Our meal was disappointing. We selected this restaurant based on the reviews we had read on Trip Advisor and in our guidebook. We waited for 30 minutes for our water and sake and watched while other tables received their food. Chefs special sashimi appetizer was underwhelming with what seemed to be "tough" yellowtail tuna slices topped with past their prime jalapeños and wilted cilantro. The Ponzu sauce was tasty however. Sunonomo salad featured cooked shrimp, raw octopus and squid but needed more cucumber to complement the seafood. The ikura sushi (salmon roe) tasted less than fresh. Caterpillar roll was meh and light on eel. Service improved once they decided to bring us the food and sake we had ordered. I wouldn't say this was bad sushi. Just nothing out of the ordinary and certainly no better than some of the top spots in our town on the mainland. So to summarize, poor service at the start, nothing special sushi and a high price tag. Disappointing is the word.
