Check in Feb 22 Check out Feb 27
Room 204 and 541
I vacationed with myself and son and sister and her husband.
My husband was on duty and unable to travel with us.
My 10 year old swam with friends the entire week.
On Feb 26th around noon he was swimming and then went in jacuzzi - he was surrounded by teenage boys that from afar I thought were being friendly. Then I saw my son get out of the jacuzzi very fast with a teenage boy chasing him. We still thought they were playing from afar
Then the swearing and threatening my son happened right in front of us. My son was petrified. It was 4 of them against him. They threw his phone in the pool and threatened him that they were going to beat him up.
I got up and asked the kids to stop and then they started calling all of us names and everyone in pool. There was an older gentlemen holding his toddler granddaughter and she was so scared. I went and got security.
The teenage boys all scattered while calling us all names with them still standing by the corner of the building looking at us. Totally shook us up and many others. Felt so uneasy that they were going to come back for us.
I can’t make this up today the 27th - I was personally harassed by a group of men while walking to the pool from the checkout area in the hall outside where the paintings are.
They were local men not staying at resorts and were obnoxious.
I didn’t even tell anyone because obviously what happened the day prior -nothing was done and we were leaving for airport in an hour.
Very uneasy feeling.
I will never come here again. The first few days it felt like paradise but it it’s truly not a safe family resort. They let everyone in pool area etc that are not staying at the hotel that walk in from the beach or street.
Truly a shame.

First time visit to Hawaii. Travel agent choose this hotel for our 3 day stay. Check in was easy. We had a rental car and the parking was convenient. Received a parking pass card. Easy in and out of the lot.
Hotel is located in a very busy area. Lots of restaurants and store close by. Easy to walk around as parking is hard to find and expensive.
Small beach in a protected bay. Beautiful for swimming and snorkeling. Many beautiful fish to watch.
Our stay included the breakfast buffet. Typical buffet choices. We filled up on breakfast which held us until dinner time. Wait staff was great. So friendly and helpful.. We also ate at the Billfish restaurant which is poolside and overlooks the beach. Fish tacos were very good.
We used their concierge service to book a whale watch tour and were very happy. Saw lots of whales, dolphins and flying fish.

Great place. It’s probably the best Couryard in the chain. Now mind you, it’s not a Marriott or Hilton resort but a great city hotel with a nice beach and awesome location. If you want beach chairs, get there early or don’t be a whiner. Half the resort reviews you read are whiners who think beach chairs are always there on demand and surprised when they are confronted with reality. But to have a beach close to the city is incredible on and of itself. Waitstaff, housekeeping and front desk are all pros. Mahalo

Room tip: Parking is a daily charge, get to the chairs at 10am if you want one. North tower has better views..

We stayed here for one night before joining family at a rental. We had never been to Kona before and picked this for the location, which is walking distance to many things and on a small public beach. We arrived early and the front desk didn’t correctly write down our phone number, so they never let us know our room was ready. We had to wait over 15 minutes for a bellman to hold our luggage. The bathroom had stains on the wall, a small old bathtub, and the (closet style) doors didn’t fully shut. We also weren’t supplied with bath towels, which we didn’t realize until too late. We had a “water view” room but the view was primarily of the hotel roof and other tower, with a bit of water if you pushed the chair all the way to the edge of the lanai. The hotel gives you a card for two chairs, an umbrella, and snorkel gear, but the card doesn’t mention that it’s first come first served and there’s only 10 umbrellas (we did notice the beach was a lot less crowded when we passed mid-week than when we were there on a Sunday). We honestly wished we had stayed elsewhere. The only highlight was the lovely lady who waited on us at the pool bar - she was so friendly and cheerful and we really enjoyed chatting with her. We don’t plan to be back, and will explore other options on the Island if we return.

We stayed at the courtyard for a few nights to start our Hawaiian trip, and the last couple nights before we departed.

The location was nice to walk to the shops and restaurants along the waterfront. Onsite parking with in and out access was super convenient; after scanning in the first time, I believe the unattended booth uses your license plate to open and close the gate so no need to repeatedly scan in and out.

We stayed one visit in each of the towers and our rooms were both very similar and average. Big wooden sliders are used for providing privacy from you balcony windows; however, curtains would have been much nicer to provide privacy without blocking out all the light.

In regards to service, the front desk staff was helpful and professional; check in was smooth and informative; beach towels were provided and came in handy for our dive with the manta rays. Two welcome drinks were included at check in and the bartenders at the Billfish poolside bar were friendly; the infinity style pool and waterfront areas were nice.

The only staff (one particular individual) we found a bit of a nuisance was the “10-minute parking” monitor. He was almost annoyingly aggressive with making sure we understand the few spaces out front were only “10-minutes;” yes, we heard you the first time, the multiple encounters were a bit much. We only parked in the spaces to check in, check out, and once as a quick stop before leaving the property when we realized we needed to apply sunblock with the top open on our Jeep. However, at one of our check ins, I returned to our vehicle to find a little boy peeing between our car and another one parked next to it. His mother was just sitting in the passenger seat and apologized, claiming “he really needed to go…” Besides there being restrooms in the lobby, where was the parking monitor when the Brussels Bandit was peeing all over the place?!?!

Overall, a pretty average hotel in regards to room quality with a good location and pretty good staff (with the one exception). However, I’d most likely look at other options when in Kona on a return, but I wouldn’t categorically rule this one out.

Room tip: “Ocean View” will likely not be direct; it will likely be to the side as longer sides of the towers face each other not the ocean.

Aloha TravelDispatch,

Thank you so much for reaching out and providing us feedback about your stay with us. Your comments are truly valued and will help us to recognize our team for their efforts while also allowing us to address areas of improvement. I apologize for about the treatment you received from our team member out front in regards to the temporary parking stalls. Your experience is not the type of service we train our employees to provide to our guests and this will be used as a learning opportunity. Thank you for bringing this to our attention and we do hope that we can see you again in the future.
