My location was excellent. I was close to the harbor, main highway, restaurants, and shopping center.
My accommodations at Mauna Loa Village were amazing. The staff which includes the office which are very friendly ,the grounds crew was fantastic. The concierge, Shawn is amazing! He by far made my vacation wonderful. He knew all of the activities, places of interest, and directions. Even if you don't stay at the resort he would be a very good person to talk to possibly BEFORE you leave on your trip. I forgot to mention he saved me money on the activities he booked for my family. Also a bonus he knows activities for kids!

Room Tip: Anywhere is quiet. All rooms have A?C

We were a family of 4 in a two bedroom unit. It was spacious and comfortable. Kitchen and refrigerator a good size and the location is kind of in the middle of the north and south of Kona's side of the Island. Resort was quiet, the barbeque on a daily basis was super clean with utensils, and we were all very satisfied and when we return to the Big Island will definitely book at the resort again. Thanks

Enjoyed our stay at Mauna Loa... we had the one bedroom downstairs condo and it was spacious, we almost felt bad we didn’t have more people with us. Definitely raising the bar from our last stay in Kona. We liked being away from the center of town. It was so peaceful and relaxing! We really like having the kitchen so that we can cook rice and enjoy all the poke’ for less the cost of going out. Plus, we made our pot of Kona coffee daily! ❤️ But we were after all on vacation and who really wants to cook and do dishes.

They say it’s one of the older properties for Wyndham but you know what it was clean, very little wear and tear. We slept very well on the bed. You know how you usually miss your bed at home but this time we did not! The ceiling fan in the living room helped circulate the air and kept the condo cool with minimal AC. I loved the big windows and sliding doors for the living room and bedroom which brought in the natural light. Grounds were kept clean every day even the bbq grill. Next time we will take advantage of the grill... the pool was just outside our bedroom but we didn’t use it. We rather swim in the ocean.

Shawn was a very helpful and fun concierge. I’m so glad he recommended the tour to see Madam Pele.

We visited the nearby KTA for groceries as well as stopped at Costco. We definitely could get use to island life. Needless to say we will be coming back sooner!

We took the opportunity and checked out nearby properties. Not sure we want to buy a condo, a small house would do! We have our five year plan to get us here! But we will come back before then...

During our stay we were able to see the super blue blood moon. Amazing! We cannot wait to get back to Hawaii.

We checked in at night and it is not well lit. We needed a flashlight to find our way as it was very dark. No parking near units and you have to carry everything from the parking garage to your unit along winding, sloping pathways which is more difficult at night. If you have a unit upstairs, you must carry stuff up, as well. The tv in the living room would not turn on. The second evening there our toilet didn't work properly and they had no maintenance man on duty. With well over 100 units, there should be 24 hour maintenance. They gave us keys to another unit so we could move but we did it ourselves with no help. Our new unit had lights out in the kitchen which were fixed the next day. The grounds here are lush and beautiful but the units could use updating. No grab bars or towel bars in the very old shower/tub. No place to hang a wet bathing suit or towel. Toilets very low to the ground, like for a child, making it difficult to stand up. Kitchen was nice with all appliances furnished including coffee pot, toaster, blender, microwave and a very nice refrigerator with ice maker but the ref door won't open all the way because it hits the cabinet. Bed was very uncomfortable. Walls thin enough to hear our neighbors talking and walking on creaky floors uostairs. There are many, newer places than this one and I would opt for one that was newer and more convenient to restaurants, stores, etc.as this was miles from anything like that.
An extremely pleasant office staff made it better.

We stayed a week here as part of our Global Discovery Vacation club membership. I read the reviews, both good and bad, and still decided this would work (it sort of had to if I wanted to go to the Big Island). The place had had its heyday in the 80’s and could use a major remodel. With that being said, it served its purpose. We had a full kitchen at our disposal to cook 2/3 of our meals in to keep the cost of eating out low. We had a stackable (smaller) washer/dryer in our unit for me to be able to wash bathing suits and beach towels each day when returning from our excursions, not to mention all our clothes. We had 2 TVs and WiFi. Can’t really complain as it did served its purpose even though it needs a deep cleaning (food splatter on the cupboards) and more so, major updating. We wouldn’t stay here again simply because we found many things we did would have been easier to do had we stayed in Hilo on the East cost rather than Kona on the West. A lot less driving.
