They offered the most affordable fishing (and sight-seeing) tour in the area. It was only a 4-hour tour, which was great for non-fisherman like us. CPT Andy was great, finding us a lot of fish (Resurrection Bay) and cleaned the fish (Black Rockfish) for us after returning. We caught our limit of fish and our small kids loved it. They were also very helpful getting us the necessary fishing licenses before the trip.
Warning: you will likely get wet since it always rains there and the boat had no cover, so bring rain gear. Motion sickness can also be a problem. Ginger did not help me, but the kids were unfazed. The waves can get big as you get closer to the open ocean.
TIP: we processed the fish at "Captain Jack's" in downtown Seward near Subway. Mailing home is pretty expensive, but they were able to pack about 17 lbs. in a freezer box good for 36 hours (for about $50), enough time for us to check it as baggage at the airport and fly home.

We kayaked with Millers landing, half day cairns head trip. No wildlife, seriously, nothing, no otters, no puffins, no salmon, no Eagles! And those are like pigeons in Alaska. Guides were teenagers up for the summer, no actual wildlife knowledge. The"ghost forest" we're some dead trees that we saw from a distance. The wildlife cruise back- a dirty fishing boat. If you want an enjoyable trip with knowledgeable guides- go with someone else.

We booked this Salmon fishing expedition through Miller's Landing by phone. Our Tour was through JR's Beach Fishing. After calling the night before to confirm our reservation, we took a taxi from Seward out to McDonald's Creek. We waited for our guide, Will, who was 30 minutes late. We thought that we could buy fishing licenses from our guide, this wasn't true, so we head back into town to buy the licenses. After getting our wading boots on (provided by our guide) it turns out that he brought only enough fishing poles for the five fishermen in our group. (this will become a factor later) In the 5 hours that we fished, Will took us to 2 different spots at McDonald’s Creek. He gave us 30 seconds of instructions. After 5 hours we noticed that everyone around us were catching salmon. We asked him for advice, he just shrugged his shoulders and said just keep throwing the hook out there. One of the other fishermen (who was catching fish) noticed that the prongs on our hooks were bent inward. You can't catch salmon if the fishing hook can't snag the salmon (this was after we had already been fishing for 4 hours!!) Our guide didn't bring any extra hooks. After 3 hours one of the fishing poles broke…but Will didn't have any extra. An hour later another pole broke. So for almost $1000 we got 5 hours of watching our guide just stand there. One of our group did manage to catch 2 salmon (enough for a delicious dinner that night at the Apollo Restaurant where they prepared our salmon to perfection!) We actually got better fishing advice from the taxi driver on the way in and the fishermen who were actually catching the salmon. Don't waste your money on Miller's Landing and JR's Beach Fishing, just rent some boots and poles and talk to the taxi drivers, you will be happier and more successful in the long run.

We loved it. Our guide, Jaime was awesome and knowledgeable.

The only thing I would complain about is the bathroom. I don't mind a dirty bathroom, but the bathroom was really dirty.

My husband and I stayed 2 nights at Miller's Landing in RV spot #1 and thought it was tighter than we like (not alot of space) the folks running it were awesome and we met some very nice folks staying beside us.
