“Vanning in Madison”

Madison Park and Beach

My husband and I travelled to Seattle in our Van for the Blue Jays vs Mariners games. We love the quick 15 min drive to Madison Park, were we can park and stay for the night (discretely of course). There are open public washrooms, cafe's, restaurants, bars and groceries. You can swim at the public beach as well.

Beautiful architecture, we love walking the neighborhood checking out the houses.

This is a small park located right on Lake Washington. Madison Park is one of the most expensive neighborhoods in which to live. In the summer this is a place where people come and sunbathe and swim. There are places to eat very near by.

At the very end (East) of Madison Street lies the urban village of Madison Park and its beach. Once a separate village, the city of Seattle swallowed Madison Park many years
ago. One hundred years ago it was an amusement park to which the city people flocked. On a hot summer day, they flock there for the beach on Lake Washington. The village itself is not large but has several good restaurants, the usual number of banks, a small market, hardware store, etc. It also has a nicely appointed playground and two tennis courts. The beach is basically grass, staffed by lifeguards during the summer. Its only drawback are the goose droppings. For whatever reason, the city can't work up the nerve to evict these pests. Bring a blanket and you should be ok. The water's great---just watch where you walk.

On a hot Seattle day, Madison Beach is a cool place to spend an afternoon. Sit on the grassy beach, swim in the rolling waves, dive from the multi-level boards on the floating platform, and watch the boats crisscross the lake. There is a bath house and there are lifeguards watching the beach and the diving. Good views of the mountains and the 520 bridge. Parking is a challenge on busy weekends.
