“Great break from the heat!”

Madison Park and Beach
Ranked #138 of 463 things to do in Seattle

It was near 90 in Seattle, so I just typed in "beach" on google maps. This park came up with pics of the diving boards and raft. Heck yes.... There isn't really a beach here, it's a grassy yard, but the view, breeze, clean water and swimming areas were a welcomed break from touring the city. Several restaurants close to for an after swim cocktail made this a perfect afternoon.

Madison Park is a 15 minute drive from downtown Seattle, You can't miss it. Drive East as far as you can on Mdison St. Just make sure you stop at the intersection of Madison and the lake (Lake Washington). The urban village of Madison Park are the last couple of blocks on the shore of the lake. Might remind you of a small village main street and it has just about anything one could need---except the excess of banks. There are a number of good restaurants, coffee houses and eateries. The shopping is limited but good and, best of all, there is a very nice, small park, tennis courts and a beach on the shore of the lake.

A small beach with lifeguards. Lawn, sloping towards Washington Lake, close to the floating bridge. Good, relaxed, family friendly atmosphede with beachgoers of all ages. Not very noisy or hectic.

This was such a fun afternoon! Grass instead of sand but lots of space and Rainier was out in her glory. Great place to spend the afternoon.

My husband and I travelled to Seattle in our Van for the Blue Jays vs Mariners games. We love the quick 15 min drive to Madison Park, were we can park and stay for the night (discretely of course). There are open public washrooms, cafe's, restaurants, bars and groceries. You can swim at the public beach as well.

Beautiful architecture, we love walking the neighborhood checking out the houses.
