The whole family throughly enjoyed this unique and tranquil adventure. Our guide David was excellent, very knowledgeable, facilitating and friendly. Our children ages 10/12 years loved it and were well able except they tired towards the end but we also only travelled from Ireland 2 days previous so I feel the jetlag took over. David came to the rescue. We couldn't recommend this trip highly enough.

Thank Elaine E

My husband and I were a little hesitant booking this Kayak trip because we have absolutely no kayaking experience, but we decided to be adventurous and go for it. I'm so glad we did!
We went on the Black Canyon 12 mile trip. We were picked up at our hotel in a shuttle van and along the way picked up some others. We then went to Boulder City to load up the Kayaks. From there, we went to the Hoover Dam to start our trip. The entrance is very secured, hence the permit you must get through Desert Adventures (they take care of this). It is a view of the damn you cannot get anywhere else.
We were riding in single kayaks that day. Our tour guide, Dave was awesome! He was knowledgeable, helpful, and had a great attitude. We were informed that the day we were out was going to be windy, which can become tiring while kayaking.
To make a long story short, the hot springs are amazing and we got to see sheep along the way on the rocks. The caves along the river and just the scenery is so peaceful. Our guide has granola bars and water. The provided lunch was great. I had the turkey sandwich, which was pulled turkey, not lunch meat. My husband had ham sandwich, which was a nice chunk of ham. You get carrots, apple, and a choc. chip cookie.
We were definitely sore the next day from all the paddling (the wind definitely makes it harder). If you have soft hands, you may want to bring gloves to prevent blisters on your hands.

Don'e hesitate, book now!

Thank you for your kind words! We are thrilled that you had such a great time and good job on powering through the wind! Sometimes Mother Nature wants to show us who's boss! :-) We hope to see you back again sometime on another one of our fabulous trips. Cheers!

We stayed in the Hoover Dam Lodge the night before which was okay and gave us a place to stay. The outfitters met us in the parking lot outside the lodge at 6am. We had our releases, packed our gear on the trailer, and we left about 6:45am in the van for a 15min ride to Hoover Dam. We our kayaks in just below the dam. We had 2 double ocean kayaks and 2 single kayaks which my 23yr old son and my 15 year daughter took down. My 13 yr old son tried the single kayak but got tired. The equipment was good with seats with back on them. We strapped on a medium sized cooler on each of the ocean kayaks with a lot of drinks. There was no current, you do all the work, but extremely low chance of flipping. It was 115 degrees on the river and the water temperature was 52 degrees. We liked the upper half of the river with all the hikes the most. The Sauna Cave was cool, and we loved the Scout Trail the best!

Incredible and Amazing are two words that come to mind after experiencing the Big Horn Classic (3 days/2 nights).
We were traveling with myself and husband along with our children (ages 15 and 13)
Our Guide was Brian, he was kind, informative, and so well knowledge of the area, not to mention his fabulous cooking skills, rock climbing knowledge, organization/navigational skills.
Brian contacted us a few days before our launch with detail of our trip, meals and things that were needed. Desert Adventures also called us a day before making sure our guide was in contact with us, a nice comfort to know that everything was set and ready to go.
The launch went according to plan and before we knew it we were on the water!! The views were spectacular and breathtaking. We kayaked a while before stopping at the sauna cave and a short hike! Wow truly something we will never forget! Again we took to the water and stopped for a short hike which was amazing in a hot springs. Lunch time and we were off on the water again! This was typically the routine…kayak, hike, eat…etc….each time different but always amazing views and so relaxing, never felt rushed or in a hurry a nice treat for a family with two extremely busy teens!
Brian was so informative on each area we entered from the river, the plants, and minerals to the type of rock etc….his passion for the area and the Earth in general was truly inspiring!
The camping was top notch, from the quality of the pads to the sleeping bags and tents…keep in mind we are not a camping family so this was a nice treat to sleep so comfy.
The food….BETTER than I ever imagined. Brian totally put a lot of thought and healthy planning into this…from chicken on an open fire to steaks….to grilled asparagus and corn on the cob, salad, and snacks consisted of hummus and vegi chips and fresh fruit etc….. The best was dessert Peach Pie and Ice Cream….yes, Ice Cream in the desert! On day two he pulled out Popsicle from his cooler…seriously, how did they stay frozen! And of course s’mores over the campfire!!
Truly a trip of a lifetime! So many things we saw and experienced! Great way to spend some quality time together as a family and unplug from the busyness of daily life!
Thank you Brian and Dessert Adventures!!

We had a wonderful day out with Gibb from Desert adventures. Spending the day Kayaking on the Colorado river and stopping off to experience the hot springs is something everyone should experience.

The day started early at 5am with a complimentary pickup from our Las Vegas hotel. A 20 minute drive to their office in Boulder City to get prepped and then it's off to the Hoover Dam for clearance down to the river.

All gear, Kayak and lunch is provided within the tour so you just need your clothes, a hat and some water shoes and you're off.

Gibb was great as it was my first time Kayaking so he was very patient and guided me well until I got the hang of it and once I did I absolutely loved it, so much so that it is now to be a new hobby of mine.

We travelled in a small group led by Gibb with 2 sisters from the US, my partner and myself which was great as we weren't hanging around for anyone and the hikes to the springs were quick and we could enjoy them as just the 5 of us.

The Kayak down the river is beautiful, you get to see all the wildlife; ducks, eagles etc and experience some of the caves as you sail down. The Kayaking itself is roughly 12 miles so expect your arms to ache the day after but it is absolutely worth it.
