We really liked this hotel. It's location is great - just across the road from the beach and beautiful clear water for snorkelling. The beach is sandy/shingle and is very pleasant and you can fairly cheaply hire sunbeds with shade if you want to there.

The hotel itself has a really lovely reception area with a fountain and birds and more importantly air conditioned so you can come out of the heat. Our room was spacious with two double beds for three of us, with tv, desk, fridge, armchair and giant wardrobe. The bathroom was really spacious and more than adequate. If you wanted wifi it was free for an hour a day in reception area but 20 Euros per week in your room (not per day as previous reviewer stated). The balcony is great because although not huge you can't see your neighbours at all. Ours looked out over the pool and then to the sea. The air conditioning in the room worked really well so we slept well. You can hire a safe or kettle for a small fee.

The meals - we went half board and really the choice was astonishing. There was something for everybody there. I really liked the way the staff just appear at your table at mealtimes and drink orders come a couple of minutes after you've sat down - no queuing required.

The pool area was quiet in the mornings, if you wanted to swim laps. As the day goes on there are various activities. We enjoyed watching them - the aqua aerobics - involving anybody and everybody from 2 to 80, and the water polo. There was also mini golf, table tennis, yoga - all sorts really if you wanted to partake.

The staff are really professional here - we managed to communicate what we wanted and I don't think we encountered anybody who lost patience with us. What's also great is that the hotel has a supermarket and the "bazaar" next door. The Bazaar is a giant shop that sells anything and everything - we loved trawling round it.

Almunecar itself - what a lovely place. We have an 11 year old and we enjoyed the castle, aqueduct, the bird park (also has monkeys), the Bonsai garden, the botanic gardens, the giant inflatable out to sea (think Wipe Out) - but we never made it to the water park. There are things to do on your doorstep, which was great for us. We took a bus to Granada one day, and had a really good day out there. The old town has some lovely shops - pottery, leather, tapas bars. The shops nearer the hotel are good value for shoes, bags etc. Things like cinema and concerts were on Spanish time - so many things starting at 10pm at night. I'd have love to have gone but couldn't get my family to actually sleep after lunch to manage it. We'd definitely love to go back here.

Didn't book this hotel, error on booking. This is not the hotel if you want to relax around the pool, saradines comes to mined. We were all inclusive!!! But could only eat in the dinning room, you could eat at the bar but only if you paid. No bottled water in our room. We ate 2 evening meals, but after that we ate out as we could not suffer the hassle of getting your food.
So if you want to relax and have lovely food this is not the hotel to go to ...

It was ok with some things I like to mention before you book this hotel: Need to speak English or French, if you don't you will have problems, spanish people have priority and the Spanish guests with alot of children are rude, pool you need to be early to have a spot, hotel blocks the sun until 1200 in the afternoon, two many kids which don't follow the rules even jump in the pool at midnight, half board no drinks or other things included not even water, very loud all the time, if you want to relax, go to the beach, which you can't find nothing but rocks, no sand as advertised and watch the jellyfish. Other than that we had a wonderful vacation, but I would choose another hotel in Andalusien!

Had another fantastic time at this hotel. Stayed half board for the first time and was very impressed with the food. Staff were friendly and helpful with new members trying out their English on us. Love going to this hotel and town.

We stayed in the Almuñecar playa for a weeks holiday and it certainly met our full expectations in providing a relaxing break. The standard room was spacious, clean and very comfortable. Overall, the food was satisfactory and the extensive variety meant everybody was able to find something that they enjoyed It is also ideally situated within close walking distance to the almuñecar old town which is filled with shops and tapas bars making it a perfect base to stay in the town and explore the area as a whole. The only bug bares
that we encountered during our stay was that wifi had to be paid for 20€ per day or 1 hour free daily. Secondly, despite signs saying that reserving sun beds were not permitted, this was not enforced making it difficult to get a sun bed. However, this was not such of an issue for us personally as we often sat in chairs set out by the side of the restaurant. Overall, we would highly recommend the hotel as well as the picturesque town as a whole and already have plans for a longer stay next summer.
