Arrived in my room 10pmWent down to the snack bar met a couple of people had a couple of drinks went back to the room had a shower and knock knock at the door, it’s the porter/security guard with a bottle of honey. Asleep before midnight.
4am – someone trying to get in room by sliding doors. Go away I’m sleeping.

    Monday 12 March 2018
9am - Front desk made complaint. Maintenance man fixes sliding door

    Friday 16 March 2018
I’m angry and speak to the porter/security guy I had sex with. He cries and says it’s not him .He’s been off for the last 3 days.
Complain to front desk and ask for the manager and the number for the police. Front desk says call 106.
12:45 am and 3:30am someone smoking a cigar/cigarettes at my front door and patio sliding doors and scraping air conditioner every night until I leave on the 25 March 2018.

    Saturday 17 March 2018
Every day until the 25th at approx.5pm someone threw dirt at my front door.

    Monday 19 March 2018
From the 19th the room access card had to be replaced 3 times and before noon on the Sunday 25 2018 4 times!

    Wednesday 21 March 2018
Someone has started to tamper with my water during the day. Smells like toilet water. I had Alex smell
it. Someone really wanted to hurt me.

Note: every day I asked for the hotel manager. Never saw him or met him.
Every other day someone would switch my channels
Told Alex a few times about what was going on.
Alex would fix the channels and smelled my water

What can you do in a strange country? Nothing. Be Careful.

I visited Hotel Rancho Luna from March 2 > March 16: the cost was $1115 for 14 days. I was at the same resort last year, at roughly the same time.
The flight was with Cubana Air: they provided a light meal, and sold Cristal beer for $3.00. Both flights were on time, and quite pleasant. The leg room was actually quite good. Cubana Air permits two checked bags (100 pounds total), per person, out of Toronto. Such enabled me to take clothing and other gifts for the fine staff.
The rooms are small, but clean and adequate. The AC worked well, and there is plenty of hot water and water pressure. In fact, they have an impressive solar hot water system on the resort.
The surrounding farmland is interesting, and you can visit some nearby farms, and talk to the residents, who are very friendly and kind. It is a much different way of life: a simple, but relaxed one.
The beach is in a sheltered bay, so the water was generally calm. Being on the south shore, it is usually quite warm. The snorkeling is pretty good, if you swim out a way, or take a paddle boat. A free ride on the catamaran is a must. You can also ride horses for free. Naturally, tipping the catamaran operator and the horse owner a CUC or two, is fair and reasonable.
You can exchange Canadian money at the lobby desk, and get about 14 CUC's [convertible Pesos] for $20. Not the best rate, but what can you do??
The resort staff was generally helpful and friendly, especially in the buffet. Servers Roberto, Cassandra, George, Ronnie, and others were excellent!! Please keep in mind that they work long hours, and earn a paltry 20 CUC's [about $28 Canadian] per MONTH. It won't kill anyone to tip a CUC or two at meals, and helps the workers immensely. Gifts are also appreciated and appropriate. I always take clothing, toiletries, chocolate bars, and other gifts for the workers. The maids do a fine job, and deserve a daily tip, as well.
The pool is large and immaculate!!
There is a free daily bus into Cienfuegos city: certainly worth a visit!!
The food was mediocre to good. Breakfast was always good, and lunch and dinner were normally okay to good. There was usually a good supply of fresh fruit at all meals. The white grapefruit was absolutely splendid. Ditto the papaya.
For a three star resort, Hotel Rancho Luna is quite good, and certainly worth the modest price. I'm happy to recommend this resort, and Cubana Air.

Been going to Rancho Luna for over 20 yrs. Always had a good time. The staff are excellent, rooms clean, And food ok. In all the years I have just had one major complaint. The blaring music all day long in annoying. In the evenings the show is so loud you cannot talk to anyone. Why do they have to try and play at a deafening volume, which spoils some of the good music they play? The problem is that they only serve drinks in the entertainment area so you can't get away from it if you want a couple of drinks and have a conversation with friends. I will still go there a couple of times a year and this is my only complaint.

If you are looking for a trip to Cuba and want to save on the cost then this is the Hotel to go to. The food was not the greatest but I did not go to Cuba expecting amazing food. The Pool bar pizza and fries were amazing and the bar drinks were very good too. Our room cleaner was very thoughtful and wrote us a nice note on our last day. The head of entertainment Juan was fantastic and interacted with everyone, he made us all feel welcome. The pool was always kept very clean and the pool staff and bar staff were very friendly. If you go to this hotel I recommend taking the bus to go see the waterfall, it is absolutely beautiful. I also recommend booking the restaurant in the hotel every dinner if possible because that food is much better than in the buffet. The mango is to die for. The only things I would complain about is the hotel rep who was very rude to the guests and the shower tends to leak into the rest of the bathroom. Other than that I had a very good time with my friends.

The rooms are small with traces of mold growing around the ceiling corners. Half the lights bulbs in the room where blown. I finally got a maid to change them and the light over the dressing mirror promptly blew again suggesting bad wiring. The shower stall was very slippery and most showers were cold. I'm glad I was on my own. Sharing the cramped space with a second person would have been frustrating. The food was very bland. There was lots of rice cooked different ways if that's your thing. They do not have cream for coffee so it was cappaccino made with powdered milk everyday. It was recommended if you were using the pool to do so early in the day as the locals urinate in it. There was no peace and quiet to be had. There was spanish music blaring everywhere you went even the beach. The public area toilets were frequently without toilet paper and the seat was always wet. It seems the locals squat rather than sit so wet toilet seats were to be expected. On excursions in to town, expect to bring your own toilet paper and sanitary wipes. Most places don't have toilet seats, paper or soap. This resort does not put much effort into activities so the bar with all you can drink was the popular activity of the day. I've also never seen so many smokers in years. Many of the older gentlemen who frequent the resort have local girlfriends for entertainment. It seems to be a favorite destination for a large number of people simply because of the price and you will see them multiple times in throughout the year. The staff are very friendly and helpful and go out of their way for faces they see frequently.
