Disappointed!! We had been planning our trip for over a year to stay at the Grand Wailea. We were so excited to be staying at what we thought would be a world class resort. Unfortunately it was a huge disappointment. The hotel is undergoing MAJOR reconstruction. It needed this face lift 10 years ago. For a Waldorf property it was almost offensive that they would charge the rates/redemption needed to stay here and have such unkempt rooms and the noise. Jack hammers were being used to break up tile in the main lobby and you could hear it all over the property. Most of the "main" area of the hotel was shut down. Wish we knew ahead of time as we would have changed our hotel. I would not go to this property unless you are 100% sure they are done with construction, which I believe will be end of 2022 or 2023.....and be prepared to pay big money for food! I recommend walking to the Island Market and getting sandwiches for the pool/beach. Much better quality and much less expensive.

Mahalo for staying with us and for your feedback, tysonj317. We are currently undergoing enhancements throughout the resort, currently in the main lobby area, and I hope you will stay with us in the future to experience them once complete.

Mahalo,
JP Oliver

The Grand Wailea is one of the most beautiful locations in the world. It is perfect for children. Our kids had the time of their life there. The beach, the pools and the surroundings areas were all spectacular. We walked to the shops at Wailea for dinner most nights and it was a short drive to Kihei for other things we needed. The beach service was great and included in the room.
A perfect 10 vacation for us and we hope to return again soon.

Stayed 4 nights in Maui at the Grand Wailea. Very nice place to stay but perhaps didn't feel "grand" - main lobby, which is very nice, is under construction and closed off (as of mid-October 2021). Room was not super luxurious, but it was spacious and well furnished with a nice lanai (balcony) that had beautiful ocean views. Great pool/beach area, splurged for a cabana facing the ocean one day for an all day private beach experience - while not cheap, the cabana experience was great. Housekeeping did a great job of spiffing up the room every day. Resort staff were all around extremely courteous and helpful at every turn - front desk, restaurant and cafe, pool activity center, parking valets. Would give 5 stars for staff and 4 stars on luxuriousness of the room.

This was our second stay at Grand Wailea, we loved our stay back in 2018 so much that we decided to stay at Grand Wailea again for our honeymoon this October. Not sure what happened in the last three years, but our experience this time was definitely not like our first. The hotel is undergoing construction in the lobby, which we were unaware of when booking. (It is also not stated on their website.) This creates a lot of noise during the day, even heard when relaxing at the pool. As this was our honeymoon, we thought that the hotel will leave a little gift or flowers on the bed in the room upon arrival, however our room was blank. When we brought this up to the front desk staff and concierge, when we voiced all of our concerns for the stay, they claimed that they were unaware that we were celebrating our honeymoon, even though upon check in the front desk staff congratulated us without us even telling them. In addition, there are multiple changes due to COVID, the two main ones we were disappointed in is the limited room service menu and no more shaved ice on property. Our stay while not the best, wasn’t the worst until about night 7 out of 12 when there was a wedding on the property. The wedding was being hosted on the Chapel overlook, two floors above our room. The music was extremely loud, causing the room to shake and us to be unable to sleep. We were still adjusting to the time difference and had early morning activity reservations and wanted to go to bed early, but due to the noise we were unable. We called the front desk staff to voice our concerns and they were unaware of the wedding that was happening. They said the noise was coming from the luau and that ended at 8pm. We knew this was not the luau and instead was a wedding as we walked in the lobby and saw the wedding on the chapel overlook. The front desk staff was flustered and said they would call us back. After 15 minutes, we receive a call from the front desk saying that it indeed is a wedding and it will be ending at 10 p.m. Again we voiced our concerns on the noise level, and their only response was that they could provide us with ear plugs. I have NEVER heard of a luxury resort offering ear plugs to deal with a noise concern. We declined and instead did not fall asleep until 11 p.m. and had to cancel our morning activity. We understand there is not much to do about noise, especially weddings in a hotel. We ourselves had our wedding at the LondonHouse Chicago, a Hilton resort, where we had amazing service. However we were extremely disappointed in the response from the staff at Grand Wailea. They were rude, careless and provided absolutely no solutions. We did several video and voice recordings to prove how loud this was, and the staff still did not care. This was our honeymoon and it was to be relaxing, yet instead we were stressed about this. When we woke up, we were still extremely disappointed and wanted to talk to a manager about this situation, which was not the easiest thing either. In the end she offered us $300 dollars off of our 12 night, $11,000 stay. The Grand Wailea is trying to be a luxury hotel, and definitely charges that price, therefore they should treat their guests that way. We wish that upon check in the front desk staff informed us that our room is underneath an event space, this way we would have asked for a different room. Not sure if we will ever be staying at the Grand Wailea again, but if we do we definitely will not be staying in the Chapel wing.
