This is a quaint museum that has diverse exhibits, a bit on the small side, but still interesting nonetheless. It was especially interesting to learn about the real lead in lead glass and the dangers that posed.

Was actually very surprised at the depth of items they have spanning thousands of years. The curator is very knowledgeable and takes great pleasure in showing you around. Worth the $5 entry fee.

The glass museum in New Bedford is a hidden gem. The glass exhibits are exquisite and beautifully displayed. The curator, Kirk Nelson, is genial and very knowledgeable and if he can, he will give you a detailed and very entertaining tour. Even though the museum is very small, there is lots to see. The emphasis of the museum right now is on glass animals and the collection of animals of EVERY kind is simply wonderful.

There is also a lovely gift shop where I bought a marvelous glass animal for a reasonable price. We would have spent more time there but our feet gave out!

We weren't even aware that the museum was there, we were headed to the dollhouse store upstairs. I am so glad we made the time to see the museum - it should not be missed!

First to find this place, you have to explore the fish processing/ industrial section of New Bedford. We found @ low tide w/ a very pungent odor outside the car. Inside, it is a antique showroom & in the very back is the Glass museum. We had a gentleman give the tour of every type of glass from different eras, different locations (worldwide to local). We enjoyed this tour very much.

We actually weren't heading to this location for the museum, but rather the antiques center that it is housed within. It was a gem of a surprise. Collections of glass of all types are thoughtfully presented in cases that are well lit and explained. We were lucky to hear the curator talk about the collection because he was giving a tour to others. And then we spent a long while looking through the antiques for sale by the vendors at the antiques center.

For anyone who loves antiques and collecting - this museum with its $5.00 admission for adults is well worth it! Wheelchair accessible too!
