My fiancee and I had a wonderful stay here. Our hosts went over and above to make sure the stay was lovely and the view from the property was spectacular!! The breakfast provided was delicious and incredibly filling and nutritious!

Room Tip: All rooms have spectacular views

This exquisite and peaceful B&B on the ocean is well worth the stay. The owners are wonderful hosts and provide a delicious breakfast in the morning. The bedroom is clean, comfortable and has beautiful view of the ocean. We could not get enough of this stunning beach and views. It is a great area. The Church is a delicious restaurant. We could've stayed longer if our vacation time had permitted it. We really enjoyed our hosts and found this to be one of our very favorite stays while in New Zealand for two weeks. We would definitely return!

Room Tip: The two rooms that they have available are both very nice. One has a great view.

The owners and hosts, Tom and Raewyn, have opened two bedrooms in their home to guests who are fortunate enough to book here. Their lovely, contemporary home sits high on a cliff above a breathtaking view of beach, bay and islands. Our bedroom had great sea views and was quite comfortable. The living areas including an outdoor deck are beautifully designed and furnished. The breakfasts are delicious and plentiful. Tom and Raewyn are gracious hosts who love their corner of the world. Nearby hikes, boat rides into the caves and good restaurants insure that your time here will be special. You cannot fail to enjoy this beautiful part of New Zealand from this very special B&B.

We were recommended Hahei Oceanfront as the "best place on earth". So our expectations were set high. We chose the Coromandel as a second choice for the last few days in NZ because we felt the Bay of Islands would be too much driving. Well we were delighted on both fronts and will return in future.

Hahei beach is beautiful. Lovely "pinkish" sand with many islands in view make it really pretty, and warm for swimming also.

The property is also beautiful. We had the slightly larger room which had a great view from the window, and was very comfortable. The house is stylish with many lovely touches.

Our hosts were charming, and couldn't do enough to make our stay special, including the delicious breakfasts on the balcony enjoying the view.

Wonderful!

23 Wigmore Crescent is a private house which the hosts live in. They rent out two bedrooms at the rear which are en suite with a shared galley area for making coffee. In all of the other genuinely luxury properties I have stayed in there is a clear separation between the hosts living space and the guests. With this property there is no dedicated exclusive space for guests other than the bedroom, the area in the photographs is part of an open plan area which backs on to the hosts kitchen.

I had intended to stay here for seven days, having been advised by another host, the Hahei Beachfront Property were apartments but given the reality - staying in someones home checked out after two and moved into more suitable discrete bespoke accommodation. I have been refunded in full by my booking agents Dial A Flight, even though they are not directly responsible, which speaks volumes for their generosity of spirit.

The other key points I would ask future travellers to consider are :-

1) It is either a 35 minute drive with a one minute expensive ferry ride or 45 minute drive to Whitianga, otherwise you eat at Church's in the evening which is limiting.

2) You cannot do any laundry whilst visiting in the summer months because the owners have to buy in their water and they do not feel the $400 dollar a night charge covers the cost of water for one load of washing.

3) There is a public pathway to the beach next to the house on the right handside and a ferry business set up directly in front of the property so not quite the breath taking serene experience that you would achieve by walking on the Matarangi or Otama Beaches further North.

The hosts are perfectly amicable and hospitable but you are constantly reminded you are inside the working part of someones house. Raewyn mentioned that she has found it difficult in the past if guests stay in in the evenings whilst they take their evening meals.

To sleep at 23 Wigmore Crescent for a couple of nights to explore this particular part of the Coromandel (Hot Pools and Cathedral Cove) might make sense but for several days of discrete relaxation no.

My thanks to Raewyn who provided the documentary evidence that she had questioned the length of my stay and confirmed it was not self catering to Kira, the N Z ground agents, which Dial A Flight have no record of receiving.

Room Tip: The Maturangi room has the unobstructed sea view
