Toddlers will find plenty to occupy their young minds and bodies, while older children will find plenty to learn about basic science principles via hands-on activities.

Explora is one of our family's favorite places to spend a day off or even a night out for the center's adult nights. The museum is a two story facility with large sections on hydro-science, applied mathematics, the science of sound, bubbles, and building circuits. Every item in the center is a hands-on experience including the ability to build "aircraft" with materials you might find around the house. Adult nights are usually themed with additional demonstrations and special features like snacks and live animal interactions. Parking is usually plentiful except on Adult Nights. Arrive early or park in Old Town and walk the short distance to the science center. As for non-Adult Night visits, this is probably best for adults or families with younger children. Teens will probably find the offerings mundane and slow moving. Pre-schoolers through pre-teens will probably enjoy all the hands-on activities.

We take our grandson, now 4, to Explora for exploring scientific concepts...which I am sure will be somewhere in his unconscious when he faces the real thing. He has great fun moving from station to station, starting with sound/music, the construction tables room, and then the wooden train set... and everything in-between. We have a yearly pass due to membership. We are happy to support Explora.

We don't go as often as we should, but everytime we do it's never a dull moment. My son loves it, as much as we do. Perfect place for fun learning!
