Food is quite good, but ordering it is a pain in the neck! The menu is high-up on the wall and you have to squint to read it thoroughly. No hard-copy menus are offered. (I've learned to ask for a take-out menu and scan it before placing my order). It would be great is Fan Tang changed to a sit-down menu and ordering at the table, but I guess management wants to save money on the hiring of help. It could be awhile before you get your order, so don't eat at this place if you're in a rush. (When I was last there I informed the guy at the register that I was in a hurry, but only ordered an appetizer because of the possibility of a long wait). The restaurant is quite large and has many tables, so when this place is busy, expect a long wait.
Service can be spotty as well: from brusque to attentive, all depends on who's on that day.

Fan Tang's food has been pretty good overall, but can be hit or miss. Food tends to take awhile to cook, but our last visit was extremely disappointing. Ordering was very slow and then food took more than 1 hour to come out. The staff was unfriendly and unapologetic for this and made no attempts to improve the situation. Additionally when we asked for things such as silverware or to go boxes they continued bussing tables rather than helping. While I prefer to support local businesses, Fan Tang has been disappointing.

You choose your protein with all your entrees and white or brown rice. Really fast service. There are many signature dishes , coffee chicken, walnut shrimp, mapo tofu, etc.
Vegan upon request, many rice and noodles dishes. Some interesting snacks.
This was great place for dinner for fusy grandkids because they customise everything.

Albuquerque is not exactly a mecca for Chinese food, but Fan Tang is some of the best in Albuquerque (they are owned by the same company as Chows, which is also pretty tasty). Good quality meats, fresh ingredients and friendly service. Sauces are pretty good too.

Super little American Chinese restaurant with good service, comfortable seating and a well balanced menu. Best part is good food and great prices but parking is tight.
