This park felt like a good grounding for local culture and actually showing we were in Hawaii vs. tourist trap, shopping etc. It was nice to learn something of their history and would like to have seen even more. It was interesting to see the wooden images representing gods and the pamphlet was helpful to understand the different stops along the self guided tour. We combined this with a visit to 2 step nearby as it’s easy to walk there from the parking lot.

Great park to visit, especially towards the end of the day. To the right of the restrooms is a route that takes about an hour to walk through the history of the site. If you go to the left of the restrooms you can go on a short hiking trail. A ton of wild goats come out to graze toward the later afternoon so try to time it accordingly!!!

Beautiful totems, and fascinating history. A sacred space not to be missed. Lots of little goats running around while we were there. I was delighted.

This national park ($20) was so cool to visit. A place of refuge, what an interesting concept. Thoroughly enjoyed the walk around the ruins, appreciating the carved statues, gazing into the waters where hundreds of yellow tang were hanging out. Not a place to snorkel or sun bathe - says it’s prohibited, but, no worries, just go next door to Two Step. Fascinating place and for sure worth a visit
