Not sure why the rage with this motel. Nothing works and maintained properly -- electrical outlets (1 out of 3 works), non-functional TV stand, refrigerator is a joke, TV the size of a laptop screen. No working a/c or heat. The vent looks like it could be a fire danger. Doesn't have the basics. Breakfast is a joke -- not worth paying more. Rooms are super small with the oldest furniture from the 1950's. Nothing wrong with retro look, but this place just needs to be torn down.

Read other reviews. They said you're better off sleeping in a tent or your car. Save your money. I feel so cheated for what they charge us $140+ incl. tax. We stayed in much nicer hotels/motels for half that price in other areas! Estes Park area is overrated.

This was a last minute reservation because of car problems and everything else close to our price range was booked. The room was tiny and VERY cramped, the outlets I wanted to use were for 2-prong plugs, the small TV was on an arm on the wall on one side of the bed, no night stands, just a goofy corner shelf, no desk; the refrigerator was off when we arrived, and the weirdest thing of all - the toilet was something from an elementary school - SO LOW, it was ridiculous; along with the sink; the shower head was very low also! About the only plus was that it was fairly clean, but everything was outdated. We would not stay here again.

We chose this motel because it allows dogs. There was a nice grassy area for the dog just steps from our room, and we could park right by the door to the room, which was convenient for loading and unloading. Check-in was efficient and the manager was very friendly and helpful

The rooms are small, though. New furniture is needed as the two chairs were uncomfortable to sit in. The lighting is too poor for reading, and the TV is in an awkward location, mainly because of the small room size. There is no desk, so we had to balance our computer on our laps while sitting in the uncomfortable chairs. The Wi Fi was adequate, however. The flooring needs to be replaced, and the decor needs upgrading. Do not expect any amenities like a hair dryer or microwave There is a refrigerator though. The breakfast is simply muffins, sweet rolls, cereal, coffee (no decaf) and juice.

This motel is more like a 1950's motel, but at a 2016 resort-town price. Yet, we met folks who return here year after year. They love its quaintness. And in the morning, one can watch literally a 100 or more elk migrate behind the motel. One bull elk had an immense rack. Don't miss this site!

We hadn't planned on staying in Estes Park but the day got away from us, most hotels were booked or their rates were ridiculously high for a weekday. We called the Columbine Inn and spoke with John. He was able to get us in at a good rate. The king room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. The room was very clean and well maintained, yes it is an older hotel but well taken care of. John gave us some ideas and were to eat and the best places to see elk. This hotel we will definitely stay at again if we are in Estes Park.

When we arrived the setup kinda reminds you of the the 70's. When you go into the office you are really back in time. The office had an "old people" odor about it which set us back somewhat. We decided if our room was like this we were going elsewhere.
The room was very clean and did not smell. The bed was soft which we do not like but overlooked that. Good baseboard heat. Overall not too bad of a place to hang your hat.
