Always consistent, always great, Siena is often overlooked, but is one of the better restaurants in RI. They have a great menu and something for everyone. A little tough for kids, but great for large parties or romantic dinners!

We ate at Siena on a Thursday evening and enjoyed the experience very much. We took our niece who recently moved to Providence after receiving her medical degree. She had heard good things about this restaurant but had not had the time to visit it previously.

It did live up to its reputation. The food was excellent and the strawberry sangria hit the spot. I had a veal dish that was very tasty and very tender. My wife had a pasta dish that was very good and so much that she could not finish it. Our niece had the Gnocchi Al Forno and loved it.

We were in Rhode Island from Connecticut for the Newport Jazz Festival and wanted to revisit the Providence area, where we attended college.
Though we arrived about 15 minutes past our reservation time, the staff never mentioned it and was totally accommodating. (We did call to tell them that we had run into unanticipated traffic on the way.)
The staff was perfectly attentive and the food was fabulous!
We will definitely revisit this restaurant if the opportunity presents itself.

We found this restaurant on Trip Advisor and decided to try it. We originally had a reservation for four and then at the last minute we had three more people to add. They were very accommodating on such short notice (not to mention a Saturday night). We arrived at the restaurant and they sat us right away and we had a great server. We had the calamari which was excellent. We also had the arancini appetizer which was a special and it was also good. I had the Penne alla Romana which was excellent. Overall our experience was great and I would definitely go back.

Remember the Yogi Berra quote "Nobody goes there anymore. It’s too crowded." This used to be "our place to go" back in the day, but now its hard to even find a seat at the bar most days, so we don't go there anymore.

The reviews are true. The food here is the best, with lots of flourishes that make the dishes special, and great quality all around. The wines are first rate. And everything is well presented.

My only beef would be that when we went back recently (on a Monday night, usually the slowest night of the week) it was so loud I had trouble hearing my tablemate. The AC was blasting on us (although it got a little better after we said something). And the staff was so busy that they only checked in on us about every 15 minutes or so it seemed. The dining atmosphere depends on where you sit. For instance, you can get away from the hubbub by sitting in the back, but boy you really are in the back - in a windowless, not very appealing room.

But then there is the reason to go to Siena - the food. Read the other reviews and you will know why its "so crowded that nobody ever goes there anymore". By the way, Siena does have a second location in a nearby suburb, so if you want a more sedate environment, you might try there instead.
