When our reservation was made, we made a point to inquire with the owner regarding potential problems for a handicapped person in the party- we were assured there would be no problem and it would be comfortable, so we made the decision not to book at an ADA certified facility in town. Fortunately ramps were brought by us, so we were able to get the wheelchair inside the 4 steps.. the next problem was the bathroom- all toilets were extremely low- even below ‘standard’ height, let alone accessible height. The first floor bed was basically like sleeping on granite with bedsheets.
Other than a beautiful view, I would not recommend the place at all.

This quirky place was just perfect for the last couple days we had in Maine. The sunset views were incredible and the hikes from the lighthouse were not too strenuous but afforded gorgeous views! There were only a few restaurants in the small town of Lubec but the drive to Eastport was worth a visit too.

I felt extremely lucky to book this place! It is in the most perfect setting on West Quoddy Head. Just a 2 minute drive to the old lighthouse and some of the best hiking in Maine. We stayed in the Bouy Shed, on the port side, and it was huge! A full kitchen, big dining table, and a couch. It was like an apartment. The views of the harbor from the property are wonderful. We've already been telling our friends about this place, and we will definitely come back and spend more time. 2 nights just wasn't enough. We found it to be perfectly clean. This whole area of Maine is just wonderful. Off the beaten path, quiet, and authentic.

Can't beat the views and we enjoyed our stay but the room had a few quirks:
1) The shower was weak. I know you're trying to save water but it doesn't help if you have to take twice as long to get the soap off. Also, you couldn't adjust the position of the spray. I was in an accessible room and have no mobility problems so I'm not sure how that shower would have worked for someone with mobility issues.
2) The window in the bathroom had a semi-sheer curtain so anyone at the back of the property could see in at night. At the least they should have put up a cheap blind so that people going up and down the back stairs couldn't see in.
3) The dresser in the bedroom was musty and the family didn't feel comfortable putting my clothes in there so we lived out of our suitcases for our stay.
But none of these were deal breakers for my family (although the poor shower was a bit frustrating) and we enjoyed the scenery and seclusion.

If you are looking for the Ritz Carlton, this isn't the place. If you are looking for a comfortable, cozy, affordable Down East place to stay, this is it. We stayed in the cabin. The beds were comfy, kitchen was stocked with pots/pans/etc. The grounds were gorgeous. The West Quoddy light was a 2 min drive. Check in was a breeze. it was near perfect.
