Quaint, clean,quiet, convenient

This Inn is just what you'd expect in this tiny little New England town of Lubec. It is the typical quaint Inn with comfy rockers on the porch, nice size rooms, decorated with beautiful and tasteful antique furniture. There is a kitchen combo sitting room facility located upstairs with the rooms that has everything you could possible need and more. Carol the owner is a most gracious host, she makes you feel right at home and is a pleasure to be around and at the same time respects your privacy. Carol is full of information about Lubec and near by islands and has many suggestions about the many various activities and sites available. She keeps the Inn spotless and fresh. She even has what she calls midweek fluff where all your linens are refreshed and the room and kitchen area is renewed. I would highly recommend staying here and if you're lucky as you're coming and going you can hear Carol playing beautiful music on her piano! I can't wait until I return in 2012.

Great place to stay for the economical traveler or student

You can't go any farther east in the United States than scenic Lubec, ME. A town undergoing a renaissance on the bold coast of Maine.

Spring and Summer Downeast Lodgings is a great place to stay right in town. There are 3 bedrooms available upstairs, with private entrance, in this over 100 year old house. There is also a nice kitchenette and lounge area, also upstairs,with shared bath, all very clean and homey.

I discovered Downeast Lodgings by referral and was very happy with my stay.
A great place to stay for the economical traveler or student, and very musician friendly.

Life the way it used to be.....loved it!

Remember the old fashioned lodging houses you see in old movies? The quaint gabled room with lace curtains, double bed, sea breeze blowing in, claw foot bathtub down the hall , piano in the parlor? Spring and Summer is like stepping back in time.

To boot, guests have their own upstairs kitchen and lounge for preparing meals and socializing. The proprietess also serves as an accompanist at the local Summer Keys music school, so your lodge mates are likely to be music lovers.

If you need a break from glitz and generic hotels and want to feel at home in a picturesque New England seaport, you'll probably love it. If you're looking for the Plaza, you won't.

Room tip: There are only three rooms, and they are very similar. Two have double beds, and one twins

Comfy and affordable!

We happened upon this great little guest house while attending Summer Keys (a well established and recognized summer music experience for all types of musicians). Carol, the proprietor, has a rich history with SKs and certainly knows all the hot spots for summer music! We loved Spring&Summer because we had rooms that were quaint without being fussy, the HUGE added benefit of a shared kitchenette, and the benefit of only three rooms. It was quiet, we had great summer breezes as it is high on a hill, and Carol answered all our questions. We especially liked hearing the music floating out of Carol's barn (nicknamed Carnegie Hall) and the town carillon playing in the mornings.

Lubec has great hills for running, the most amazing stretch of beach in maine (you can walk forever!), lots of cooling fogs in the am, a water taxi/ferry to Eastport (home of the best lobster roll in the US!), and a warm small community feel.

Definitely will return to Spring and Summer!
