My husband and I came to stay at Spring and Summer Downeast Lodgings under unusual circumstances. We had rented a cottage for a week's stay and unwittingly came a day early. Desperate to find a night's accommodation on a Saturday night in July, we were referred to Carol's guesthouse. She was as gracious as could be. The house was spotless and comfortable, old fashioned in a warm and pleasing way. Having a cooler full of food for our cottage, i was delighted to find a full refrigerator in the upstairs kitchenette where I was able to store our provisions. This is a self catering guesthouse, not a b & B, so guests are provided with a nicely equipped little kitchen/lounge for preparing simple meals and relaxing.
Carol is a delight, an easy conversationalist with a warm smile and manner. As mentioned before, she works at Summer Keys and is a musician in her own right. My husband, who was also in Lubec to study piano at Summer Keys, was delighted to find not one, but two pianos in Carol's parlor.
This is the perfect place for anyone who desires simple, modest and very friendly accommodations.More
