It was an anniversary, so we decided to splurge. Hadn't been to the Arizona Inn main dining room for many years, so gave it a try. Started with drinks in the bar. It was MLK Day, so not too crowded, but still had a pianist playing good mood music. My Manhatten was just right. On to dinner, where the dining room was decidedly quiet. I ordered duck breast, medium. Perfection! My husband tried the pork tenderloin, oh so good. The atmosphere is wonderful, so old Tucson. Blazing fire, high beamed ceilings, could still hear that pianist from the bar, just right atmosphere for us. Next time we'll try a brunch so we can enjoy the various beautiful gardens on the property. It's been here a long time, but should never be forgotten.

The historic Arizona Inn is an oasis in Tucson -- peaceful, beautiful architecture, lovely grounds, and excellent service. Afternoon tea in the warm, lovely library was a treat. The staff was extremely helpful in arranging transportation for me. The Inn is more than a hotel, it's a wonderful experience.

Room tip: Room with a private patio lets you enjoy sitting outside on comfortable lounges.

Had a lovely lunch at the Inn. Fabulous starter of brussel sprouts marinated in vinegar sauce served with panda cotta. Main courses were good cobb salad and average turkey sandwich but on GREAT gluten free pretzel roll. Service was fine and we liked the light and quiet of dining room.

Room tip: We didn't stay in hotel.

Their service is over the top, grounds are beautifully kept, spacious rooms, on site parking, afternoon tea, delicious dining. We've stayed at several high-end "resorts" in Tucson and this defiantly ranks in our top 2.

The Arizona Inn is a very nice place. It has an old southwest charm and authenticity that is difficult to duplicate and which creates a completely different experience than would be obtained at a more typical resort destination. The grounds and the common spaces are very attractive and well kept. We particularly enjoyed having coffee in the library before breakfast. The only meal we ate at the Inn was breakfast, which we found to be very good.

Due to the cold weather we could not enjoy the pool but it looked very inviting. However, the fitness room, which is adjacent to the pool, was mediocre at best.

I do not give five stars to the Inn only because the rooms are bland and a little tired. They are comfortable and spacious enough, but the decoration and furnishing are quite basic. As an example, the bathrooms, although large and perfectly functional, have white tile floors, white tile on the walls and white paint. In fact, white and dark brown are the only colors in the rooms. I imagine this is simply the style of the region, but it could be done in a way that would be warmer and more inviting. In addition we had a hot air vent that clattered every time the heat kicked on. I suspect we would have been less concerned with the room decor if the weather had been warmer and sunnier.

We deliberately chose this property for its location near U of A and downtown and overall we were satisfied with our stay. The Arizona Inn isn't quite luxurious but it has plenty of charm and atmosphere as well as good food, and I would recommend it.
