What a lovely spot, within walking distance of everything in downtown Tucson, but secluded and quiet in the historic Presidio district. Patti is a wonderful host, and a joy to get to know! Her breakfasts were extraordinary, hearty, and delicious, served with the other guests at a common table. Everyone was so happy to be there, that the conversations around the table kept going and going. The gardens in the secluded courtyard were amazing, with a soothing fountain, large trees, and flowers, flowers, flowers! We stayed in the Victorian Room, which was delightful, especially with the bright and airy adjoining parlor all to ourselves. The whole place is warm and inviting, and we didn't want to leave. Whether you're here on business or a vacation retreat from the cold and snow, El Presidio Inn is a gem!

This B&B, once the home of a wealthy Tucson 18th c. pioneer, has been lovingly restored and up-graded into a small, private, and homey hidey-hole in an old and quiet neighborhood. The art gallery (excellent) is a two-block walk south, next door to the Cafe a l'carte, also excellent. The El Charro--one of Tucson's best, and a family-run authentic Mexican must-visit restaurant--is a two short block walk to the east. The El Presidio Inn itself is "just like your grand-mother's home", in excellent condition, full of personal memorabilia, and run by Patti, a delightful and energetic "senior citizen" acting like a mature 50-year old. Her breakfasts were amazing, and generous. Her coffee is always available, but on the strong side, as is she :~) The inner courtyard is charming, well lit, with blooms galore. Parking is on unbusy Franklin street, adjacent to the property, and guests have reserved spaces thanks to Patti's arrangements, and the ID card that she provides for your vehicle's dashboard. We plan to return at first opportunity, most likely in April.

If you are tired of B&B's where the host simply says "this is your room, here is your key, breakfast is at 9:00, have a good time," then you should check out the El Presidio B&B when in Tucson, Arizona. Hostess Patti is a fountain of information and stories, and spends a lot of time making sure her guests have everything they need to have a memorable stay in the Tucson area. Amazingly, she does it all, as far as the operation of her B&B is concerned. With 30 years under her belt, she insists on preparing the rooms for her guests, as well as fixing the delicious breakfasts herself. Why? She wants to be sure she provides a good product/experience for her guests. The rooms are sweetly and amply appointed, with charming little handwritten notes posted here and there, to make sure you can find the hairdryer, access Netflix on the TV, log into wireless, etc. Once you enter the gate to the lovely courtyard of this B&B, you understand why so many reviewers call this a hidden oasis with customer service extraordinaire.

After over 15 years, coming back to Patti’s every February is like coming home. A warm welcome always—and of course, those ginger pancakes with homemade lemon syrup! Opening the gate and entering what must be one of the most beautiful gardens in Tucson never fails to bring joy—and we know it will be “our” garden for the length of our stay!

As so many others have written, the El Presidio is a true oasis in Tucson. Lovely accommodations, a wonderful host, delicious breakfasts, and a beautiful garden courtyard. It was a pleasure to return here after our previous visit four years ago.
