My husband had been to this restaurant about 13 years ago and was so impressed he had to take me there. The mojitos were amazing! So many choices. We tried mango, very berry and cucumber lime. Each one was perfect!

Along with mojitos, we had a number of appetizers. The brussel sprouts were incredible! The fish cerviche was very flavorful, but there was not a lot of fish in it. The fish tacos were good, once you got to the fish. They were served with way too much lettuce as filler. The main appetizer we went for, the garlic fried plantains. They were dry and overcooked, served in a puddle of butter.

On to dinner. My husband ordered a Seafood curry and I ordered Chilean Sea Bass. The seafood curry was mediocre at best. They used chinese crawfish and very tiny shrimp. A few clams were scattered in and mussels. They only flavor was the strong coconut curry.

The chilean sea bass was undercooked. The pecan rice it was served with was very good, but the sea bass was one of the most expensive items on the menu and I couldn't eat it.

When we called the owner over to discuss, all he did was offer us dessert.

Very disappointing experience overall.

This review is based on Azuca's Friday & Saturday night live band/dancing starting at 10p. I've only had the food when this place was a different restaurant.

My dance partner & I dance up to three-four times a week (salsa, bachata, merengue, & cumbia) & this place is quaint.

Pros: small audience, intimate, & less of a party crowd. Cons: floor is sticky (hard to spin on), hot (kitchen puts off a lot of heat though it closes down at 10p), & because it's so small if they're too many dancers it's difficult to find dancing space.

Overall, the band is very good and this is a fun place with good lighting. If you're avoiding the weekend club scene this is a fun place to dance.

All meals come with fresh cornbread hot out of the oven. There are little pieces of corn and peppers in the sweet cornbread and it is awesome, The fish vera cruz is tasty with green olives and peppers. The spinach salad with spicy chicken is the perfect blend of heat and sweet. The chicken is spicy, but there are caramelized pecans and mangos in the salad that offset the heat. During the day, the inside appears to be a normal restaurant, but at night the inside of the restaurant becomes a dance floor. It is definitely worth checking out this little jewel.

The sweet cornbread they serve with a creamy butter is so comforting. My husband had a Trio dish with ahi tuna, filet, and shrimp (he thoroughly enjoyed it) .... I had a seafood curry plate that included mussels, oysters, salmon, scallops, shrimp, yucca, red peppers....sooooo good. This place serves Latin dishes that are hard to find - once I can lose 5 pounds I'm going to try the paella!

Good selection on menu, and looked like all prepared well. Mine was excellent! Good and comprehensive bar. Walking distance from downtown/Riverwalk.
