Description: The Famous Green Chile Cheeseburgers are back! John and Bonnie Eckre, formerly of Bobcat Bite, are taking their food to the next level at the new Santa Fe Bite located inside Garrett's Desert Inn on Old Santa Fe Trail. In addition to their savory Green Chile Cheeseburgers, Santa Fe Bite features fresh tacos, fish and chips, sandwiches, a choice of French or sweet potato fries and a little something they like to call 'The Big Bite' that comes with a side of buttery garlic bread. Creamy milkshakes and homemade lemonade are just some of the sweet treats popping up on their new menu. Also, we are now serving beer and wine. Santa Fe Bite opens at 8am Saturday and Sunday which means early birds can sample tasty Breakfast menu offerings like hot cornmeal pancakes with maple syrup, brioche French toast with maple caramel sauce and house-made biscuits with Mom's gravy. Spend a leisurely Sunday outside at Santa Fe Bite. The new Brunch menu includes eggs benedict, Steak & Eggs and Huevos Rancheros.

We decided to try a new place for us and The Santa Fe Bite was the perfect place for lunch. My wife and I split a burger and wedge salad and both were delicious. The service was quick and the prices were very fair.

We have honestly had just as good green chile cheeseburgers at a lot of places in Santa Fe...there used to be less competition than there is now. Every restaurant chef seems to have their own special version of it. So if you love them, you can make a trip of just doing a Santa Fe taste test of GCC burgers.

So, Santa Fe Bite ie, the old Bobcat Bite may one of the original classics and one of the better known places to include in your GCC burger quest. The interior is more "diner" than southwest ambience. Sometimes the chile is hotter than others, sometimes its rather mild for green chile. **If this is your first time trying one, I would have the chile on the side and add it yourself if it tastes good to you you. Hubby loves green chile on a lot of things, but not as much on burgers. He loves the green chile enchilladas there more. I like a classic burger...and you can get that there too. Their fries are great.

The menu is actually huge and includes a lot of things that even kids will love. Check it out before you come...it will make you hungry. Dessert is really good too. I am a big chocolate malt fan. Of course, there are no calories involved! :-)

True believers in the GCC burger treat Santa Fe Bite as a sort of a holy grail destination...it just has to be added to the list.

We both had the sopu, salad, and sandwich combo and it was very good. The chicken tortilla soup was flavorful, the salad was fresh and the green chile chicken sandwich was good enough to,stand on its own. The best part of the meal was the outstanding service and watching the teamwork as every one including the owner, manager, hostess, wait staff, and enven the bus staff work together to make sure that customers needs were met. Truly a great experience.

We did not go to the original Bobcat Bite, but took the opportunity this visit to go and try Santa Fe Bite. Everyone agreed that MY Green chili burger was the best. Of course, after giving three other family members a bite, there wasn't much left. Quick service and appreciated since we had two young busy grandsons with us. The location is an easy walk from the plaza just across E. Alameda on the Old Santa Fe Trail.

Give it a try!

We enjoyed our visit. I had the green chile cheeseburger and chile cheese fries. Burger was slightly undercooked but very tasty. My son had chicken flautas which were also quite good. The dining room was nice with a vintage car feel and had much better service than some other restaurants we've visited in Santa Fe on this trip.
