Fish Trap cabin is beautiful and located on the best spot along the Shenandoah River. The cabin is fully stock with amenities, kitchenware, and comfort. The hot tub under the stars was wonderful after being on the river. The firepit in the massive yard was also great. We are already planning on coming back to this cabin. You can see other cabins in the area, but none compare with Fish Trap.
Everything in and around this property is immaculate: the view is breathtaking from every angle, and appliances and electronics all work without issue, and the decor must have been done by a professional - it simple has everything you could want in a mountain/cabin retreat. The hot tub was a wonderful respite, as well!
The ownership provided great communication before, during and after the stay - and the housekeeping staff ensured everything left us awestruck when we checked in. Simply put, you won't regret your time at Fish Trap - and you'll leave wishing you had just one more day to enjoy all the scenery, admire the decor and relax in the hot tub. Wanted to take my family of 6 to Luray Caverns for the weekend so we booked the Fish Trap cabin. We all loved it and wished we could have stayed longer! Everything was clean and in great condition, ready for any family to enjoy their time away from the hustle and bustle. Gorgeous property, with direct river access, big fire pit, hot tub, fully furnished, and more! If I had to say anything negative, it would also kind of be a positive, and that was that the wifi didn't work while we were there. However, it was perfect in that we were able to "disconnect" from our normal lives and take it all in! Loved it!
Beautiful home and location! Traveling with 3 adults, 2 small children and 1 border collie and the accomodations were great! We ate every meal in the screened-in porch, enjoyed the hot tub every night, went canoeing on the river and had smores and scary stories around the fire pit! Danced with my 7-year-old grandson on the deck at sunset (his idea) and just had a relaxing time with family. No one wanted to leave! The only negative any of us mentioned was how incredibly firm the mattresses were. There were also some people staying at the cabin above who decided to drive their truck through the yard to return canoes to another area. We thought this was incredibly rude and could have been disastrous considering we had 2 small children and a dog playing in the yard. We know this is no fault of the owners, but just want to make them aware. We would definitely return to this little piece of paradise!
We stayed for a weekend at the Fish Trap cabin for my Dad’s birthday in August (5 adults, 2 dogs). The cabin was beautiful and had plenty of space for all of us. The location is amazing. It sits very close to the river, and there are beautiful views from the deck and inside the house. The town of Luray was about a 15 minute drive. They have a Wal-Mart, ABC store and Food Lion for all of your food/drink needs.
When we arrived, the code for the door didn’t work, but I called the phone number in the email, spoke to a friendly person, and it was resolved easily and immediately.
Canoes were provided, which my brother used and had a great time. It was too hot to get in the hot tub, but it looked very nice.
They do ask that you dispose of the trash yourself (or they can for a small fee), but the place where you dispose of it is about 2 minutes up the road and it’s really quick and easy to do.
They really did think of everything. I always over pack and bring things just in case, but I definitely didn’t need to here. They had toilet paper, paper towels, hand soaps, dish soap, trash bags, flash lights, grill lighters, grilling tools, ice trays in the freezer, sprays in the bathrooms, etc! They also had bug spray, which we definitely needed. They provided a generous amount of firewood and we enjoyed the fire pit each night.
We can’t wait to stay here again!
