We LOVED Fat Olives! We are fans of the TV Show Diners, Drive Inns, and Dives, and knew this was on the list to try when we drove thru the area. It did not disappoint! My daughter had alfredo pasta, I had the spaghetti bolognese, we had 2 pizzas, and we had salads. We all enjoyed our meals.

Many rave about The Fat Olive so we decided to give it a try. Big mistake. There were three of us. One person ordered the lasagna. It was the worst lasagna having absolutely no flavor, having too much noodle. And it was very tiny. The other two of us split a meatball pizza. The crust was great, but that’s where it ends. There may have been one ¼ inch meatball chopped up on the pizza. When I order a meatball pizza, I expect meatball. Cheese was sporadic and scarce. It was mainly a pie shaped piece of dough with sauce. I could not believe we spent $14.50 on this. And if you are going on a date and expect to hear the person you are with? Forget it. This place is loud with lots and lots of kids! We all left hungry and sought food elsewhere. Also, parking is a nightmare.

This place serves what I would call "gourmet" pizza. Not your average, cheese, sausage and pepperoni. Our food was delicious and we enjoyed the leftovers, too. Our waiter was very helpful in helping us order some good combinations. We were there during happy hour and the beer selections were nice, too.

We had dinner here tonight and it was delicious! We started with the Burrata app and it was just the right size to share with a family of four. My husband had the lasagna and loved it. The rest of us had pizzas. My son had the Ms Piggy and loved it. We had the Beligo Dolce - it was the perfect combo of sweet and a little spicy. The waiter was very helpful with all the selections.

There are a lot of highly rated restaurants in Flagstaff, but since we were in the mood for reasonably priced Italian, we opted for this favorite.
The first problem a patron encounters is the lack of adequate parking. Perhaps we missed an alternate parking area, but the parking area in front is very limited. We ended up parking in the lot of the business next door as it was after business hours, but I imagine that at other times this might not be an option. We checked in with the host & went into the bar area to wait. The only open seating in the bar area is at the bar – hightops are verboten as they are used for those on the waitlist. Understandable as the restaurant is fairly small and they don’t want barflies taking up space – ha ha. Got our drinks & went out to the seating area to wait. We were seated early (at a hightop in the bar area! The irony of it all.) We started off with grilled artichoke hearts which were absolutely delicious! Four hearts, attractively presented with a yummy basil aioli dipping sauce. Pasta entrees came with a field green salad, and that’s just what we got: a plate of greens. One little onion slice, half small cherry tomato. Well, they didn’t promise anything more. Spaghetti & meatballs was very good, ragu had a nice blend of flavors. Wish it came with more than the two small meatballs, but they were homemade and flavorful. Our server told us the wood-fired lasagna was one of their top sellers which made our selection easy. The ragu was surprisingly sweet (don't know if that's a good thing), probably from the basil, but the entree was good, not outstanding but worth ordering. We actually thought the lasagna tasted better the next day when flavors had time to meld. Service was good, although we didn't see our server very often. Fat Olives is mainly a pizza place (and they did look good!) with a smattering of pasta dishes thrown in for good measure. It is also a very busy place so take advantage of joining the waitlist or calling ahead. Three stars only because we didn't think it was quite up to four, and we had hoped for more options other than pizza. That said, next time we’re in Flag, and want pizza, we wouldn’t hesitate returning to Fat Olives and have no qualms recommending it.
