It is super nice location in order to get to shops. There's ABC mart in front of hotel and 3 min on foot to the beach.
Hotel is very old but it is clean and very cozy and also reasonable.
There was also Japanese speaker hotel staff.

They keep cats and birds which was also cute;-D

We really enjoyed out time at Breaker's Hotel. It's truly old school - like others have said. If you aren't prepared for that - don't bother coming. My grandfather used to travel to Hawaii in the late 60s and early 70s and this is exactly the kind of place I imagine he stayed. Immaculately kept courtyard and pool are so nice - especially in the evening. We had a two room suite that was perfect for our family. The small kitchenette was nice to have and the on site laundry was helpful as we had some things we wanted to wash. Waikiki Beach is a very short walk away and a couple of really great restaurants are extremely close by in addition to their onsite Japanese restaurant.

This place is just wonderful. Feels like a private resort without the price tag. Very personalized service. I'm not an "old-timer" loyalist--I only began staying here last summer while here on business, and am on my third visit now as of May. I am sick to death of chain hotels, and the large hotels in Honolulu are especially disappointing, with their masses of humanity gasping for anything they can get their hands on for free, e.g., the icky white-bread-type food at a club lounge. The Breakers is absolutely charming with a friendly staff that knows who you are. Nice and quiet, no packed pool area with thumping music, an adorable outdoor lobby, with a resident cat or two for those who are missing theirs. Not for you if you are a high-maintenance, must-have-room-service-and-every-amenity type. But if you have some soul and can appreciate an old-school retro place (original retro, not paste-on) with character, this is wonderful. Old Honolulu accommodations that feel like home.

We've returned to the Breakers a number of times over the years and love the venue and location. However its time for a bit of TLC (Tender Loving Care) - the old girl is rather tired and needs a good bit of attention. That's all that's needed - not overly worried about noise from street, chatter around the pool, or the vendors next door - but please Breakers, just a new coat of paint etc would be really appreciated..

This hotel is magnificent, set in the former style of Hawaii, it offers very comfortable suites at a reasonable price, it's not 5-star, however, it's a fabulous star of its own. The staff are truly great and offer a very memorable holiday stay, always welcoming.

Room Tip: its in busy Waikiki city everything close-by. Downstairs garden suites great access. Upstairs suites + beautiful lanais (verandahs) .
