Ate there alone while in town on business. Given the reviews I had high expectations, and they were further enhanced by the crowds that were already there. I ordered the pasta for lunch and it was outstanding - would definitely order that again. Now I want to go back and get breakfast!!!

The menu look fab so we took a cab over. Waited 30 min for a table . We ordered three plates which are tapa portions . Brisket spring rolls : very thick wrapper which I ended up discarding . The salad which came with it was very tasty . I wouldn’t recommend this dish . Squash salad : two roasted pieces of roasted yam? A table sponge of goat cheese & a pile of arugula . Very disappointing & misleading . Smoked ribs : nice flavour but was suppose to come with coleslaw? Had to ask for it. The service was friendly & attentive.

We stopped by Scratch after work thinking we’d have a drink, appetizers, and stay for dinner. The food was just OK. Scratch is known for their country-fried devil eggs. Four per serving. Nice crunch but the soft deviled egg inside was not for me. The other dish we ordered was the beef short rib poutine. Oh Canada, they would be embarrassed by this version of their national dish. The beef, while tender, was heavily heavily salted and the amount of French fries was not nearly enough. Not good at all. Oh, and no cheese or cheese curds. They recommend “sharing” the appetizers. Not big enough to share. The drinks were good.

Really enjoyed our meal at Scratch. Great menu, hard to decide what to try. We had the "meat and potato" option, which was New York steak and broiled whole potatoes with brussels sprouts........very good, portion size was good, steak was cooked to order. Also had the fried oysters with pasta....excellent. Menu is meant to be shared among your table, so entrees are brought out separately. Excellent creme brulee for dessert. We'll be going again!

Have read excellent breakfast reviews for this restaurant and was surprised to walk by one evening and it was open for dinner — so we thought we’d give it a try. The food is outrageously good and the best part: you can try several different plates as they are designed (and priced) to be sampled. Deviled eggs that are deep fried (very gently) were unusually good. The beans and nacho chips are not your typical ‘nachos’ — they are off the charts delicious. There’s pork belly, shrimp, steak...not too many dishes as the kitchen is a small group of 3 (I was told that the chef/owner was away) and the ‘boys in the kitchen’ were humming like a well-oiled machine on this night. We were well looked after by Paul, who gave us some menu suggestions, and the lovely young ladies serving the dishes were extremely attentive but not intrusive. Book a table or sit at the counter and watch the kitchen staff do their magic. Sad that we can’t become regulars at this restaurant!
