We were here in August when Hurricane Lane was hitting the islands. Before the hurricane, temperatures were in the 30s (celcius) and I have to say the AC in this hotel is top notch!
Although the decor is a little dated, everything else was great, especially the staff. We were supposed to leave the day the hurricane was forecast to hit Oahu, so in the middle of the mad rush to re-book flights and accommodations, dealing with the Bamboo staff to extend our stay was quick and easy in a pretty stressful day.
Location is great, a couple blocks away from the beach, supermarkets, restaurants and ABC stores. Bus stops were also very close and the heart of Waikiki is only about a 10-15 minute walk away.
The only thing about coming in August is that you might want to bring earplugs with you as the AC in the rooms is loud and in August, there is not way you will want to turn the unit off, even at night.More
