Enjoyed the Moana Surfrider. Stay was booked by Norwegian Cruise Lines.
We had 3 night pre cruise stay before 7 day Hawaii cruise. When Norwegian books room you get rooms in the original building which is very very nice, but most likely you will be stuck in city side room which has constant noise, traffic, people, and who knows what all night long. For the money payed this shouldn't be. Other than that ,stay was good and enjoy the hustle and crowds on wakiki beach for 3days, which is enough.
Plenty of shopping and nearby resturants. Great location, and can rent surfboards and lessons nearby. Would return again but would like tower ocean view room. Why don't they put in some sound proof windows like they do in airport location hotels?

This hotel is in the heart of the happening Waikiki. The grounds are beautiful. It is nice to have the beach and pool next to each other. You can flow between the two easily. The rooms are a bit small. The closet and luggage storage is in the bathroom, so if you are a family of 4 or even two sharing one room it is hard to get dress when someone is either on the toilet or taking a shower. And consequently you can not use the toilet while someone is showering. We got an adjoining room our third night and that gave us more space as a family. Our partial ocean view was a spectacular view of both the beach and diamond head. The pool didn't seem very flexable for young kids. A group of kids from different states and countries started a little game with the beach ball in the shallow end of the pool. The kids were of all ages. The rope seperating the deep from the shollow end was well within the shollow end leaving enough of 3 feet and more for people to play in the deeper section. The pool person said balls weren't allowed in the pool. Overall all I would call this hotel sufficient for 3 nights in Oahu.

This is the 7th annual trip to Oahu, 5 times staying at Surfrider. You cant beat the value for 2 ocean view rooms for my family. The Tower wing has been renovated and now its just great. The beach is just wonderful. All Waikiki shopping is close by. Terrific food at walking distance. Highly recommended.

We upgraded our room to an Oceanfront Tower room after reading the reviews on this site. Our room faced Diamond Head and overlooked the Banyan Varanda. I would strongly suggest this side of the Tower Wing as it seems to have a better view. The rooms and balcony were very nice and modern.

The concierge desk was very helpful as far as restaurant recommendations and reservations. Their selections were terrific. I would highly recommend Ocean House restaurant and the sushi restaurant at the Marriott. Afternoon tea at the Moana was fine, but certainly not exceptional.

we stayed here in late march, early april 05. glad we picked this hotel. quiet and refined compared to all the others except royal hawaiian although we did have a nice meal at orchids. we rented a car and spent most of our trip driving around. we liked the valley of the temples and a nice town on the windward side-kualua??(sp) and spent two days going over there.
