I used to stay here when they had the one building facing the pool and no tower yet. I have watched it grow up and evolve. This is not a luxury property. That is across the street and called the Moana and is about $250-300 more per night. The PK is a great tourist hotel right in the heart of Waikiki. The beach is across the street....Kalakaua. You want beach front....$300 more a night. Save your money and spend 3 extra minutes to get to the beach. The pricing is fair. The rooms are better than adequate. However, try not to eat or drink here. Pretty spendy for this venue. There are numerous establishments within a block or less from the hotel. IMP aka International Market Place is right next door to the hotel. All of your souvineer type of shopping can be done here and there are several ethnic fast food places there too.
The facility is getting a little tired, but the pricing is fair and the location is perfect.

The PK is not a 4-star hotel - - but I rated my stay as 4-stars because of the location and the rate. Some of the desk clerks can be a little difficult to deal with but for the 1st time of all of my stays at this hotel - my male check-in clerk was fantastic. Usually they make you wait until 3pm (check-in time) for a room. But this time he gave me a room immediately (1pm). I was shocked because I have stayed here many times and will stay many more time mainly because of the location. Their beds and bed linens are fantastic - - but it stops there !!! My room was over the outside/inside parking lot - - which meant car noises and car lights at night. The room had a balcony - but on the 5th floor the balconies have a half cement wall instead of the see-through iron railing as on other floors. I was on a non-smoking floor and yet my balcony had cigarette butts which could have been left by the former occupants or from someone throwing them out of their balcony from the floors above. Really don't understand why such a high resort fees - - much more than other hotels that I have visited. Sorry that they took out the dedicated computer in the lobby to issue your airline boarding passes.

Room Tip: Avoid the 5th floor if you want a good view from your balcony.

We go to Hawaii almost every year, and we always stay at the Sherton Priness. We have never had any problems with this hotel. It is in a perfect location, and we are within walking distance of everything. We have been staying here for about five times, and we love this location, the hotel, and the service. The last year we went was July 2010, and we will probably go again in 2012.

Room Tip: Get a corner room, That way you will have the view of the ocean, and at night the city lights a...

We had 5 nights in the SPK in February 2012 after seeing a 50% off sale in a newspaper article. After reading a number of reviews on Trip Advisor, we didn't expect too much to be honest so we were pleasantly surprised. Maybe the hotel isn’t the newest in the area but at the price it was excellent value. The bed was very comfortable, it was spotless and the location was great. We upgraded to High Ocean View rooms and even then it was only $150 per night. From the balcony of our room we could look up Kalakaua Avenue and our friends had a room right on the corner and had great views of Waikiki beach. At night the sounds of street music wafting up was very enjoyable. I imagine if you got rooms at the back it wouldn't be as enjoyable but we had no complaints. Our friends scored a corner room which gave them a great view of Waikiki.
The only downside was that the sliding door on to the balcony did let some street noise in at night.

Room Tip: A corner room has the best balconies

I would definitely stay here again. The location is perfect. Beach across the street, shopping is right on the way out of the lobby and the bar had THE BEST Mai Tais! There is so much to do in Waikiki you are hardly in the room anyways. If you are looking for luxry-this is not the place, but its comfortable and clean.

Room Tip: I got a Partial Ocean View- it was great to see the city lights at night too. I think the basic your...
