“Worst Hotel Ever”
Reviewed 6 August 2011

We planned a family mini vacation to KI. We arrived a the hotel at 1015 they did allow a late check in which was nice. When we got to our room the door jam was broken and there was no smoke detector. It had been torn off the wall real safe when you have children staying with you. Also we could not lock the securtiy lock unless you have super human strength due to the door jam being broken. The bed are hard has rock, but the worst thing is that they advertise they have a pool. The do have a pool, but it was closed for maintenance, was the website updated no it was not. The continental breakfast only consisted of cereal, waffles, sausage and beagals. The juice machine was broken they were server only orange juice from a pitcher along with milk from a pitcher. The only positive I can say about this hotel was that I booked it through Hotels.com and I got a reall good rate for 3 nights. If I would have had to pay full price we would have packed up and left. I am unable to cancel because I booked through a third party, but believe me I will never stay here again. By the looks of the parking lot today when we returned to the hotel several people had the same idea.

We stayed here for 4 days and it was 4 days too long! The hotel was full and the AC didn't work in our room and leaked water on the carpeting so the whole room smelled very badly of mold. We asked to be moved but they were full and couldn't move us. We had to stay in this room for 2 nights! All the hotels in the area were full due to a sporting tournament that weekend. The last night they finally moved us but guess what? The AC didn't work in that room either but at lest it didn't smell. When we got home we noticed we were missing a backpack. I called the hotel and they said they found it in our room. They sent it UPS but when we got the backpack a small bag with my jewel had been taken from the bag. I called and emailed the manager and she didn't think this was a problem. Any hotel that allows employees to steel from guest bags is not a hotel you can trust to stay at!

The hotel overall was ok. I am not sure if I would actually stay there again just because of the noise in the hotel itself. The walls were paper thin and you could hear everything in the room next door to you and and also any noise in the hall. However, the beds in the hotel were extremely comfortable. If you ask for a smoking room be prepared to have a very overwhelming stench hit as you open up the door. The room that I was in was probably the worst smoking room that I have been in. I realize that this is part of being in a smoking room but I don't think an ozone machine has ever been used in the room to clean the air out. That being said if you are not a smoker make sure you get a non-smoking room. The free breakfast that was provided was nice but I felt it ended early especially on the weekend.

We stayed in this hotel as part of a high school soccer team pre-season tournament. When we checked in at 6:00 pm we discovered the bathroom in our room had not been cleaned so we were assigned to the last available room. The new room was exactly one floor below the room of one group of our team's soccer players. Later that evening after the first soccer game we found water on our bathroom floor. It just so happens the water was from a leak in the room above, a result of the 3 players taking their shower. The water was leaking into our closet then onto the bathroom floor. When we opened the closet door we were greeted by a complete wall of black mold. At this point we called several other hotels in the area but could find no vacancies. After a trip to the front desk we were told we could either stay in the room with the black mold or in the room with the dirty bathroom because there were no other rooms and no one available to clean the room until morning. Due to the potential health concerns with black mold my wife agreed to clean the bathroom herself. You would think that after changing rooms twice and cleaning the bathroom ourselves this hotel could see to comp us one of the two nights we were scheduled to stay but when the desk clerk called the manager they told us they could deduct $15 from our stay. Not $15 per night mind you, but $15 total. The next morning when we arrived for breakfast at 8:30 we discovered that there was no milk available - "They ran out." - How hard is it to drive to a store and buy 5 or 10 gallons of milk? After multiple discussions with the daytime desk personnel we were able to negotiate a discount of approx. 1/2 a nights stay - still pathetic compensation for the trouble we experienced.

This hotel looks old from the outside, but has been completely renovated on the inside. The outdoor pool was a nice size, and was clean. My husband and son enjoyed the belgian waffles for breakfast (you make your own) - they also served apple and orange juice, sausage patties, bagels, and cereal. The room was very nice - but more importantly was very clean. Beds were queen size and comfortable. Lots of pillows provided. Only ran into one minor problem - be aware that there is an "early check in fee" of $15. We planned on leaving our luggage/belongings at the hotel and heading to Kings Island for the day. We arrived about 12:30, and I expected that there would be a room available for us to check in to. Not the case. You are actually not able to check in at all until after 3:00 at this location, unless you pay the extra fee. They did allow us to leave our luggage locked in the office until we came back later that day - which seemed to be our only option, and we did so. Ended up fine in the end. Easy access to interstate 71. About a 10-15 minute drive to Kings Island or The Beach Waterpark. We thought there were plenty of restaurants to choose from in the immediate area. Also found a kroger and a meijer fairly close by. We stayed three nights at this hotel (wed-fri), and we were extremely happy with our choice to stay at this hotel, and would do so again without hesitation - just not early.
