“Worth a stop”

Reviewed 14 November 2017

An easy stop along the Grand Loop road finds a series of small mud springs near the Yellowstone river. Nothing spectacular but interesting nonetheless.

This is part of the Mud Volcano tour, which is a series of acidic hot springs that cause the mud to bubble (since it's being dissolved by the acid created by the microbes digesting the hydrogen sulfide) and steam.

It really does dragon lair with constant billowing of steam coming out, although be warned - if you are (un)lucky enough to be caught by a blast of its hot breath, it's pretty stinky!

It's really fun to view the Spring water flowing out from the "Dragon's Mouth". The heavy water flowing, the smoke from the "mouth" and the snort is the charming part of this place.
Really glad that we made a stop at this point and found this gem.

The Dragon's Mouth Springs certainly live up to their name. Steam comes pouring out of this natural phenomenon.

The heaving waters that snort and spit make you believe there's a dragon inside--our kids were absolutely enchanted here. Quick stop, not too far to walk from the parking lot.
